A is for Action. I often have to change my attitude in order to take action; or I have to take action to change my attitude. Not every thought, has to be followed by action; and yet, if we don't follow thought with action we miss out on a lot of things. i.e. Take something out for dinner...Dinner time comes, nothing defrosted to cook. i.e. I would like to call and give them a piece of my mind. Following thought if we are lucky, I can't afford to give any away. I find it is best to wait, process, check my side of the street, talk to my sponsor and my God, and then I can pick up the phone and talk to the person.

B is for Boundaries. Boundaries can be adjusted, reinforced, put at different areas for family, friends, and community. When you are in my home, you will watch your language, not drink or smoke. I have a smoking parlor on my balcony. Speaking up and saying things like, "This is what I heard. This is what I understood you to mean. Is that what you are trying to say, or am I misinterpreting you. We set them for our own health and well being.

C is for Count your Blessings. I don't know about anyone else, but I have been truly blessed in recovery. The fact that I am still alive, is blessing enough, yet I have been given so much more. I think the biggest gift, has been finding myself and learning and accepting who I am in today. That has stood me in good stead over the years, and very much needed as I grew up thinking I was ugly. Don't look at what you don't have. Look at what you do have and how far you have come in recovery.

D is for Easy does it!...but do it!!! It is good to do, but sometimes we get can get caught up in busy and forget to take out time to rest or to pause and connect with our HP. It has been my experience that things are done easier when you take your HP with you.

E is for Each day is a new beginning. Each day we can pause, when things aren't going well, say the Serenity Prayer, and ask our God to give us the courage, strength and guidance we need for the NEXT 24 hours. Cleanse yourself all thoughts that get in the way of your Serenity in today.

F is for Forgiveness. Like they say, "It has to begin with me." How can I forgive others and not forgive myself? My God is a loving and forgiving God, why should I not go to him and turn things over to Him.

G is for Gift. Recovery is a gift. As the saying goes, let go of the past, don't projecct into tomorrow, live for today. Live in the present. All I have is this 24 hours. In order to keep it, you have to give it away.

H is for How It Works. H.O.W. Honesty, Open Minded, and Willing, three things we need to stay sober one day at a time. I didn't get them in order and some I got in part, and in some areas, it took a while to get the self-honesty I need to allow myself to change, heal, and grow. I had to open my mind to other peoples ideas, as they say, "Take the message, but leave the name of the messenger, in the rooms of recovery. Willing to go to any length to maintain my sobriety. Using was not an option, so please people, tell me how it worked for you.

I is for Insecurities. An intuitive healer said that pain and trouble with our feet is a case of insecurities. I would say this is true in part. I haven't been able to do what I have wanted and needed to do on a daily basis. Like the saying, "I didn't have a leg to stand on." It is good reminder to take things one day at a time and let your God take care of the rest. This should say, "Thinking of what to do."

J is for Jovial. That is extra special joy. It happens when you laugh and you can feel it in your tummy. It is those Ho! Ho! Hos, like the ones that come from Santa. It is feeling your feelings. You just let go and laugh because it is funny to you, and it doesn't matter what other people think. It is my second morning.

K is for Kind. Be kind to yourself. Recovery starts with you. How can you be kind to others if you can't be kind to yourself. It is kind of fun to spoil yourself once in a while.

L is for Living. This is a living program. It is applicable to all areas of our life. It isn't just about not using drugs and alcohol, or other addictions like food, work, exercise, gambling, religion, etc. it is about our thinking and how we get through our day, living a spiritual life as we trod this Earthly journey.

N is for Nothing. Nothing can get in the way of my sobriety. Nothing is worth me losing my serenity and peace of mind. Nothing is worth picking up a drink or a drug, be it popping a pill, stuffing myself with food, and or getting caught up in busy or my computer games. Some is good, more is not better.

O is for Over. Instead of over eating or over indulging, we can be over joyed and over the top with our service for others. The best way to get out of self is to help others. Get over yourself, and over the selfish, self-centeredness of our disease.

P is for Passion. We need to be passionate about our recovery. We are given a second chance at life, so make the most of it. If you aren't enjoying recovery, what are yo doing wrong. Get out there and pus some Rah! Rah! Rah! in your step. If you haven't done a 4th and 5th Step, you need to get it done. It bring a great freedom to your recovery and a load is lifted.

Q is for Quiet. Quiet your mind. It takes practice. When a thought appears acknowledge it for what it is. By doing so you either empower yourself or you take away the power of the person, place, or thing. When I find that quiet, I can hear the Good Orderly Direction I need each day.

R is for Reason. A grateful alcoholic will never have a reason to pick up. He/She may have a lot of excuses, but there is no reason to pick up if you are honest about staying clean and sober. One will lead to another, so we have to face the reality of our addiction(s).

U is for Unity. We can do what I can't do alone. The fellowship of the spirit in the rooms of recovery, is what keeps us together.
