LEARN TO FOCUS ON TODAY
Most of us spend some time planning. We may be planning for work, getting ready for vacation or preparing for a big event. There is a need for planning so we are more prepared when the day arrives; however, we need to be careful to not constantly live for tomorrow. We need to be sure we are enjoying the day we have and taking time to be grateful in the moment we are in right now. Too much planning and scheduling and preparing causes us to lose focus on today. We need to learn to enjoy each day as if it were our last.
SCRIPTURE: Ecclesiastes 5:18 “Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life.” (NLT)
ACTION STEPS:
1. List what things and events you are planning.
2. Write out what you should be enjoying today.
3. Thank God for the blessings He has given you.
4. Take a break and focus on the moment and experience God’s blessings.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, remind us daily to stop and enjoy the moment. We get so busy with our plans. We get so focused on our work. We get so wrapped up in what others say and do that we forget to stop and enjoy the moment. We get distracted with our feelings and thoughts that we don’t see Your blessings that are right in front of us. Thank You, Lord, for Your blessings. Help us to stay focused on the beauty of this world and the perfect plans You have for us to use what You have blessed us with to help others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
REMEMBER:
Some planning is okay but we need to be sure we are seeking God’s help in our plans.
Only God knows our future so it is wise to seek His help with our planning.
God wants us to enjoy today while it lasts for tomorrow it will be the past.
We should focus on what is going on right now, thank God and experience His blessings.
It’s hard to plan for tomorrow when we aren’t even sure what today will bring.
FOCUS: Proverbs 27:1 “Don’t brag about tomorrow, since you don’t know what the day will bring.” (NLT)
When we focus on God, He can help us with all of our tomorrows.
