Keep It Simple

The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.

Sometimes it does no good to try to “deal” with your feelings. For the moment, we’re stuck. We can only see things one way. No matter what anyone says, we’re closed up. For the moment. But this puts our sobriety at risk.

How do we stop self-pity? Focus on someone else. When we really want to help someone else be happy, we'll ask our Higher Power’s help. 

Then things start to change, because our good deeds come back to us.

Remember, service will always keep us sober.

Prayer for the Day: Higher Power, sometimes I get stuck in my old ways. 
Help me change my focus at those times. Help me stay sober.

Action for the Day: I will think of a time when I was stuck in bad feelings.

How did I get out of that spot.

Get in such a space when my son comes to my place and is high. I really have a problem with that wide eyed stare he get when he is that way.

So grateful for the program. There is no way I want to go back there.

My God has seen me through, either I go to a meeting, pick up the phone, or someone will call me. Those are the best kind, getting out of self has been the solution. Like coming here and sharing or doing a meditation with my angel, animal, native, and/or nature cards. Sometimes it is as simple as sitting in my chair, saying the Serenity Prayer, the AA and NA third step and seventh step prayers. Me getting out of the way to allow my God to work through me. I often sit with my hands up, preparing to receive what my God chooses to give me and letting go of what doesn't serve me in the moment.

As you know, one of my favorite sayings is, "Surrender isn't giving up, it is giving over."

Shared this week, "Play the tape to the end ". Sure there were good times, but there were a lot of not so good times too. What price did it cost to find the doors of recovery. Be grateful you got there.
