A is for Awareness. We are aware that the holidays are coming. Thanksgiving stuff is in the stores. We in recovery, must remember that Thanksgiving is an all year thing. I am aware of the many gifts my God so freely gives. When I become aware of them, I say thank you, thank you, thank you.

B is for Blessings. We are truly blessed. This program is for those who want it, not necessarily for those who need it. I believe we are chosen. We have a message to carry.

D is for Divine Orderly Good. Look for the good in someone. Sometimes it doesn't seem to be readily apparent, while others wear it on their sleeve. It doesn't matter if your God is the opposite of what others believe, as long as your God works for you. Don't forget, that Higher Power can't be you. I call it the God/Dog syndrome.

E is for Eating. They say, it isn't always what you eat, but what is eating you. I have to remember that this program is mental, emotional, spiritual and physical and I need food to feed them all, not just my body.

F is or Final. AA was the last resort for many. They tried many things and finally had to admit defeat. Surrender isn't giving up, it is giving over to our Higher Power. Making the decision to work the program to the best of our ability. There is no failures in working the Steps, no right or wrong, only if it takes you back out to do more research.

I is for Integrity. Walking your talk. This is so important for me and my recovery. I tend to tell it as it is. What you see is what you get.

J is for Just for today. That is where you will find your Higher Power. You can't connect with Him/Her if you are absorbed by the past and/or projecting into the future. Now is where life is happening.

M is for Miracles. I believe in miracles, I am one. Never thought I would live to be 40, didn't find recovery until I was 49. I almost missed out on my 40s. Here I am in today and I am 75. The nice thing is, I keep having people say, "You don't look it." I was reborn of the spirit.

O is for Opinions. Every one has one. We have to allow people to be right. We need to keep an open mind and accept that we don't have to agree with everyone and everyone doesn't have to agree with me.

P is for Patience. Have it if you can. It is one day at a time. Bring the body, and the mind will follow. We don't get it all at once, it is not a quick fix. Be patient with yourself.

Q is for Quench. Quench your thirst with healthy choices. Remember we have body memories and it may not be a physical thirst or hunger that you need. Pick up literature, go to a meeting, call your sponsor, pray, etc. Just because you have a feeling doesn't mean you have to act on it.

S is for Self. Get out of Self and be there for others. Get rid of the great "I" am, and remember that "We" can do what I can't do alone.

T is for Trust. Trust the process. As we work our program, we heal and grow. We can't base our tomorrows on our yesteryears.
