History Lesson


A doctors visit to ease the pain,

How many prescriptions are written in vain.

Oxys, perc, vics, opioids of your choice,

Were given out as long as you had a voice.

The pill mills finally got shut down,

Soon after Heroin moved in to town.

Cheap and strong the vacuum got filled,

Tragic how many were getting killed.

Heroin now has a back seat,

Fentanayl is now the new treat.

Heroin on steroids is the lore,

Sadly more are dying than before.

A new player is entering the game,

Carfentanil is it's name.

It has no use for man or woman,

Just one spec and you are done!

This reminds me of the time I tried Zyban to quit smoking. I would take the pill and would sit their waiting for it to happen. I would say, "I took the pill, how come I am still wanting a cigarette." Looking for that quick fix. I gave them to a friend who wanted to quit smoking, and instead of the pill, I went to NA and collected key tags. Just for today, I choose not to use. I may crave and obsess, but I don't have to pick up. I can go to my Higher Power for support, I didn't have to do it alone. I didn't substitute with food, using the spiritual program, I filled up that void with spiritual things. Instead of gaining 30 lbs. I lost 3 lbs. NA works, when I work it.
