One of the greatest freedoms of recovery, being my own person. I didn't know that I could say No and old tapes said it wasn't an option. This is the role you are meant to play as a wife, mother, daughter, friend, etc.
They use to call me Odd Job Joe. Even the gender wasn't right and I had such lofty expectations on myself, let along those that were projected onto me.
I always felt like I never measured up, so always felt less than. It was a great day in recovery when I learned, it is okay to be Jo.
