If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn;
If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight;
If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy;
If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty;
If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient;
If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence;
If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate;
If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice;
If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith;
If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself;
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he learns to
find love in the world.

How true this is. I am a firm believer we are products of our environment. Who I am and associate with determines who I become if I don't work a program and choose what is acceptable and what isn't in my life. If I am around angry people, it is often projected on to me if I allow it. It is amazing the energy that is around us that is not ours to take on. Growing up I thought I was responsible for everything, then I didn't want to take responsibility for anything.
Adult children are either very responsible or very irresponsible. It is one of the characterists listed in our literature. I can see it in myself and my son.
