These are the poems that I have written over the years that will be put in frames and set out at the visitation on Wednesday for people to read. My nephew that lived with my mom had spoke to me Friday that he would like to have some poems for people to view so I put some together that I wrote and let him read them and he liked them and told me he would like for me to share them. Here they are:
Lord my heart is heavy today
And I know you won't give me any more than I can handle
But I just have to say
Why does it have to hurt so bad
Our time on earth is so short
Too short for grudges to be held
Too short for all we feel we have to do
Too short for the many stories we have to tell
With this in mind as we go through each moment
Let's remember to always say I love you
Let's remember to always forgive and forget
Before our time is spent

"Going Home"
I'm gonna fly away into the night
I'm gonna fly away into the night
Gonna be gone
Never coming home
I am flying towards the light
And at the end I can see the Pearly Gates
They are opening to let me in
And standing there waiting are family
and friends
With arms opened wide
They embrace me
After my long journey
I have reached my destination
I am now at my Home in the sky
For you left behind please don't cry
I'll be forever watching over you
Whenever you are feeling blue
Just look towards Heaven
You'll see me smiling cause now I am free
I have found peace and happiness
For you'll see standing next to me
Our Father in Heaven
I am now at the end of the light
I am living in Heaven
Gonna be staying here
I have come home

Mom, this is a very special time of the year
A special time to tell you that to me you are very dear
Throughout the year you have given me so much encouragement,
support, prayers and understanding
With the greatest gift of all being
Your unconditional love
The woman I am today is because of you and God above
Mom, you are the greatest of all mothers
That's why I am wishing you the happiest Christmas ever!

Once there was a beautiful girl and handsome lad
Who united and later became a mom and dad
Dad went on to live with God in heaven
Life alone for mom and daughter began
The road they traveled together was a bumpy one
As time passed, mom and daughter became best of friends
A strong bond between the two was formed
They now, not only share their love for each other
They also share their love for Jesus Christ. Amen!

"Mother"
A mother is always there when you need her
Whether you live near or far
She comforts you and makes you feel better
Her love is the strongest of all there are
These words I know are very true
Because mother dear they describe you

Mom I know I am blessed
Cause of all the moms in the world
You are the best
And I am one lucky girl!
