My sponsor, Papa Frank was an old-timer from the 50s and 60s era of AA. At 38 years of sobriety, he closed all his comments with the following statement:
"People who go to meetings stay sober, people who don't go to meetings get drunk and *I still go to meetings because it"s easier to stay sober than to get sober!" Some real food for thought from one of those real old timers who knew how to keep it simple and "explain" it simple

Amen!
My spiritual advisor celebrates God willing 45 years this year.
He always said, "If you had one had in the hand of your Higher Power and the other hand in the hand of a newcomer, you had no hands left to pick up!"

Dear Tiger---The phrase "words of wisdom" remind me of one of my most favorite songs by the Beatles. I think the song Let it be is a great example to do the 3rd step. In the song it says "WHEN I FIND MYSELF IN TIMES OF TROUBLE MOTHER MARY COMES TO ME SPEAKIN WORDS OF WISDOM LET IT BE" Paul Mc Cartney saw his dead mother (name Mary) in a dream and she told him to "Let It Be---there will be an answer---just let it be or turn it over to God like it says in the 3rd step. Yes it is a lot easier to stay sober then it is to get sober. I don't ever want to have to suffer thru detox again. I have been a little jittery with my anniversary coming up and that is a real good phrase for me to hang onto. EASIER TO STAY STRAIGHT THEN TO GET STRAIGHT..... Thanks for reminding me of that real good important helpful phrase!!!! You are MARVELOUS!!!! Love & Grateful Hugs Mistyeve aka Johnny's Girl
