ah! on thanksgiving day, when from the east and from the west,from the north and from the south came the pilgrims and the guest,
when the gray- haired new englander sees round his board the old broken links of affection restored,
when the care- wearied man seeks his mother once more, and the worn matron smiles where the girl smiled before, what moistens the lip and what brightens the eye?
what calls back the past like rich pumpkin pie?
a fruit loved of boyhood! the old days recalling, when wood- grapes were purpling and brown nuts were falling, when wild, ugly faced we carved in its skin, glaring out through the dark with a candle within!when we laughed round the corn- heap, with heart all in tune, our chair a broad pumpkin, our lantern a moon,
telling tales of the fairy who traveled like steam, in a pumkin- shell coach with two rats for her team!
then thanks for the present, none sweeter or better e'er smoked from an oven or circle a platter! fairer hands never wrought a pastry more fine.
brighter eyes never watched o'er its baking than thine, and the prayer, witch my mouth is too full to express, swells my heart that thy shodow may never grow less,
thats the day of thy lot may be lengthened below, and the fame of thy worth like the pumpkin- vine grow,
and thy life be as sweet, and its last sunset sky golden- tinted and fair, as thy own pumpkin pie.
happy thanksgiving to all
enjoy your pumpkin pie

WHEN DADDY CARVES THE TURKEY;
it's really quite a sight i know he tries his hardest but he never does it right
he makes a fancy show of it before he starts to carve and stabs in all directions while we're certain that we''ll starve
he seems to take forever as we sit and shake our heads by the time he's finished slicing he's reduced the bird to shreds
he yells as loud as thunder just before he's finally through for when daddy carves the turkey daddy carves his finger too..

~Thanksgiving Prayer~
Thank You, God, for everything– the big things and the small– For every good gift comes from You, the Giver of them all, And all too often we accept without any thanks or praise The gifts You send as blessings each day in many ways.
And so at this Thanksgiving time we offer up a prayer To thank You, God, for giving us a lot more than our share.
First, thank You for the little things that often come our way– The things we take for granted and don't mention when we pray– The unexpected courtesy, the thoughtful, kindly deed, A hand reached out to help us in the time of sudden need.
Oh, make us more aware, dear God, of little daily graces That come to us with sweet surprise from never-dreamed-of places.
Then thank You for the miracles we are much too blind to see, And give us new awareness of our many gifts from Thee.
And help us to remember that the key to life and living Is to make each prayer a prayer of thanks and every day Thanksgiving.

there was a ship, mayflower by name took a trip, she crossed the main full of people seeking peace praying for freedom to increase
the pilgrims came to plymouth rock simplie people, strudy stock to be free, they crossed the sea thanked the lord, on bended knee
how when the crops were gathered in a dinner party did begin pilgrims, indians, pumkin pie, turkey, venison, corn '' oh my''
ever since that autumn day thanksgiving has been here to stay....
happy thanksgiving everyone;;;;;;;
