U is for Using. In active addiction, I used people (dad, son, husband's, boyfriends, boss, girlfriends, and more), places (my bed, the Royal Canadian Legion, My watering hole in my social period between marriages, the Riverside), and things (alcohol - Crown Royal my favorite poison, pills, food, work, computer, Nevada tickets, and More).

V is for Vision. Open your mind, heat, and eyes and take in the big picture. Don't limit your God by your narrow outlook on things. Open the tunnels and take off the rose-coloured glasses and see the reality of the situation. Don't limit your God by giving Him guidelines as to what He should give you. He knows the ins and outs of the big picture and can envision great things, often so much more than we can envision for ourselves. We need to stop trying to do our God's Job for Him. He is quite able to do for Himself.

W is for Wait. Wait a year before you get into a relationship. Wait don't leave before the miracle happens. Find a sponsor. Get a home group. Get involved in service. You need to build a relationship with your sponsor and with your Higher Power.

X is for Xenophobia. It is a fear of aliens and strangers. I told my NA friends on Sunday night that they qualified.
We never felt like we fit in. I know i always wanted to belong, but always felt different.

Y is for Yellow. It is the colour of NAs 9 month key tag. It tells me to be cautious. I am coming up on that big One year medallion. It might be a good idea to do extra meetings. I needed to remind myself I didn't get to where I was by doing it alone.

Z is for Zebra. People look at this two ways. Recovery was learning that there were shades of gray. An addict once said to me, I no longer have to live in the gray area, I see clearly now, everything is black or white.
According to Kim Krsns, the Zebra is eccentric, creative, and a visionary.
