Sad week. We had to put Rascal to sleep on Monday. He was acting normal on Sunday...running, barking, eating, coming when called, and going in and out th4e doggie door. Then Monday morning I found him asleep in the kitchen. He would not come when called. I picked him up and stood him and he didnt want to walk. I carried him to a big doggie bed and he took a nap. When I got his breakfast ready he would not come. I carried hm to the food and he ate but it was slowly...not his usual gusto to eat.I called the vet and told them we would be in about 9 to have him put to sleep., We didnt have an appointment and others did...so we waited a while.I held him the whole time and Mike did stay in there with me even though he said he would leave between the first and second shot. His little body was just shutting down. He had huge health issues for three years. I talked to his regular vet yesterday. (he was off Monday) he told me Rascal was lucky he had me t6o take such good care of him. He would have never lived those three years. He highly suspects he had liver failure. Two of his conditions bother the liver. A recent blood test had 350 for liver and 60 is high. He said the liver can slowly shut down and then finally stop working. He had a good life and was well loved. We are handling it very well.I have a poem I love to get out when we lose a pet..Rainbows bridge. It says they will be waiting at the rainbow bridge just outside of heaven and when they see us coming they will jump in our arms and cross the bridge with us.
I had a craft class last Friday. It was called Diamond painting. Tiny little beats the size of a pinhead..you tap them and place them on a picture with letters. It's like a pain by number but very tiny spots. I have worked probably at least 30 hours on it since Friday. It was a perfect distraction for me to not be dwelling on Rascal being gone.I roughly divided the picture into nine sections i have one section and maybe a third of another to go to finish..
I hope you got moved into your new house and have got things where you want them
Take care
