Once again, its President Kennedy's anniversary of the day he got killed. Many were affected by this senceless tragady. Where were you when you first heard the news?
*************** For me, I was l0 years old, at school when a teacher brought a T.V. into the classroom and told us the news of President Kennedy getting shot. Later on we were all dismissed to go home to our families to mourn over his death. To this day, I still can see my black and white tv with Walter Crockite talking about this event and my mom was sobbing so much. For me, I was too young to understand too much of how this person can effect so many millions of people..

Dear DG, I too like you was in school and there were announcements over the PA system and we all went home early. But for me Presidents Kennedy's death took on a whole new meaning. My father died from a heart attack when I was 5. I was never allowed to grieve or mourn his loss. ("I was too young or so they said."). So when President Kennedy died I was actually mourning the loss of my father as well. I still remember the scenes of the horse drawn procession down Pennslyvainia Ave. I sat in front of the TV an cried like I never cried before. Later that year I was allowed to go to the cemetery for the unveiling and resolve my grief. Today I pray for both their souls.

( ( ( ( Dg ) ) ) )
I was about 15 when President Kennedy was shot..... Unlike most, I did not grieve for the president, I felt very sad that his family had lost a husband, father, son, etc. etc....... Our country survived this dark time and we have survived many others, the U.S. is stronger for having gone thru it all......
Hugs, ~SG~

Dear DG---I remember the funeral for President Kennedy went on and on for days and days. I was a little kid about 6 or 7 and was aggravated that my cartoon shows after school were all taken off cuz of the "President Kennedy Show" I remember my Mom crying her eyes out and saying that it was because he was Catholic that was why he got assisinated. I never understood that and still don't...MISTYEVE

It was the year I was married, and not feeling or thinking much about anything. I remember being shocked when I heard the news at work. It just didn't seem possible.
Saw the many clips on TV and as SunnyGirl said, the family was young, he was so young, and when I think of it today, we just never know, all we have is today.

I was very small and my parents had the black and white tv going, and they started crying, I barely could figure out what was wrong. But it was terribly sad, and unbelievable. I couldn't figure out why someone would do that. I will never forget that scene on tv, and my parents crying from shock. Suz

The day Kennedy was killed: I must be older than a lot of you. I was 17, and I remember it clearly. I was home that day, and my Dad wasn't working that day, for some reason. Anyway, he always was watching TV, and I was doing the family laundry that day. My Mom was ill and confined to bed. As I come upstairs from doing a load of laundry, my Dad told me what had just happened. We sat in front of the black and white TV and never left it. The funeral was sad, little John John saluting the coffin as the cavalcade went on by. With all that has been on TV about it these last couple days, it seems the Kennedys have had their share of sorrow. Regardless of circumstances within their family, there was always a look of strength, pride, and class. I had the opportunity to meet Robert Kennedy later on, and of course, his life ended needlessly too. carrie

I was in high school study hall when I heard the announcement. And Was in English class when we were told he had died. The class had a moment of silent prayer. Back in those days the teacher was allowed to request that in a public school. I also remember the funeral lasting a very long time...not days and days, but hours. And little Joh-John saluting...wow...what a memory.
I heard on the radio this week that a Texas senator was in the crowd to meet the president with his 17 year old son. Those two gentlemen late became presidents. My scottie GEORGE BUSH is named after one of them because we got him the week of the inaugaration.
