I KNEW the feathers one...but not so sure on the mexico ques.

They are wild turkeys in mexico and are native to that country. And I know it was domesticated in mexico and brought to Europe in teh 16th century.

So I probably missed that one.

That's what I thoguth too SUNNYGIRL! But the red-pink fleshy growth on the head and upper neck is called a caruncle. The wattle is the fleshy growth under its throat.

How about this one...does anybody know why most turkeys raised on turkey farms are white turkeys?

Is it because white turkeys are domesticated turkeys (farm raised) and they cannot fly, compared to wild turkeys who can fly away to freedom?

That's very true Saralee..they cannot fly. But the reason I was actualy thinking of is...when they pluck the white feathers they dont leave a sopt on the skin. If you pluck brown feathers from a turkey it leaves spots.

I am sure the no-fly reason is also a reason they do the white ones.

I can't imagine buying a polka dotted turkey. LOL
