TEXTnicotine addiction:
TEXTwhat a great topic... so many still suffering in this area....lets try to define the animal we're dealing with here.
when we use the word addiction in any phrase (nicotine in this case) we should get some kind of clue that the issue is not the issue...
if it was just about not smoking anymore (using, drinking, eating, gambling ect..ect..) then we could probably just lay them down and walk away... but we all know that it goes deeper than that..
you see when i drank, did drugs, and smoked it was meeting a need i had... i was allowed to escape accountability, responsibility and of course the pains of life was buffered.. but the issue was not that i used..
when i became clean and sober, which i thought using was the root of my problem, i expected life to be all better (not the case) at least for me .. my issues went deeper then that...
when i go to f2f meetings there is always a gathering of people out front lighting up.. i hear them say they have been clean for how many ever days weeks years, yet they're taking in a drug with every breath..
perhaps i'm to hard on them with my own thinking, but i'm convinced that a drug is a drug is a drug and that we cannot be confused about this.. cigarettes allow us to avoid dealing with life on life's terms, they also bring us false comfort just like using other substances did...
so what about withdrawal, cravings, crabiness and all the other effects of changing our chemistry? thats where we must have trust (faith) in our creator..God's awesome love will hold you, comfort you, and get you to the end of the day...after all, today is all we have to work with so lets stay in the present (odat). i know that cravings (temptations) must flee from you if you resist them, its a spiritual law, they have no choice.. TEXTFAITH ONLY WORKS WITH ACTION!!
so heres the esh i offer you this day... if you currently smoke cigarettes and would like them out of your life, throw them out NOW within the next five minutes, step out boldly in faith and trust that God will get you to the end of today (remember "what don't kill us only makes us stronger") i encourage you to test God, see for yourself he is alive and well and He has the authority, the ability, the desire and the willingness to take you to a new level in your recovery...
say this prayer: God i believe that you can do all things for all people including me. thank you for taking this addiction from me today...thank you also for my friends here at EOR, in Jesus name i pray..AMEN

Thank You for sharing Max..... and I agree with you, a drug is a drug is a drug! Alcohol, crack, nicotine, food addictions..... etc If I had faith the size of a grain of mustard seed, I would be able to move a mountain. Quitting smoking should be much easier than setting out to move that mountain. Peace on the journey.... SG

Dear Max,
Well put, although it took me four years to quit after I made the decision. Fear couldn't make me put them down, in fact it kept me smoking. I had a fear of putting on weight. For me to gain weight is to die. When I did quit, I lost three pounds because I used my program, I went to meetings, I went back to basics, I collected key tags, etc.
It isn't about the substance, it is about the addiction. The Steps as a way of life applies to all parts of my life. i.e. My chronic pain, my computer, my food, my love of attention, etc.

Hi ((((everyone)))
I have taken my first step again towards quitting smoking. They are sending me Cigaresst pills, free for 30 days, and if i want the last 30 pill, it is only $13.95.
I am having heart problems now and the time to stop and stay stopped has come. But I have to use a non-smoking aid and that's ok.
God bless and good luck to everyone (just for today)

Hi Dorrie, I remember when my hubby got that Cigeretts pills a few years back, and sadly it didn't work for him at all. He got the refund back. I hope that you have better luck at the Cigeretts than my hubby did. Sg.. my ex and 6 other guys went to a hypnosis seminar one time, and out of that seminar, 4 of the guys stopped smoking for good (even to this day!) and the others went back to ciggies after a few weeks. So.. heres my 2 cents on that kind of info.

Hi Dg.... Thanks for sharing the info.... I have a friend that tried the acupuncture and it worked until the little staple fell out and he never went back to have another one put in.... Guess I could try the hypnosis and pray that I was one of the 4 that were able to stay quit.... Hugs, SG p.s. as I was reading your post, I looked at the top of the page and there were 4 links for stopping smoking.... zyban... all natural... 7 days to freedom and a smoke away kit for just $44.95. and the 12 steps are free

Sunnygirl, I tried group hynosis about 6 years ago and it didn't work for me. I didn't feel any different than before I went in and I really tried to have the right attitude, but no go. Dorrie I hope you have success with the cigaresst program. Love, SaraLee

Dear Sara Lee,
Thanks for your good wishes for me on quitting smoking with the Cigarrest. It hasn't come in the mail yet, and is guaranteed not to interact with any other medications that I HAVE to be on for life, to sustain life.
I have to get off the cigarettes very soon. Nuclear scan tests on my heart are on April 23rd and I'm sure every puff is not helping how this test is going to turn out.
love ya loads, my friend,
