Keep It Simple

Keep It Simple. -AA slogan

Addiction messed up our thinking. We know that from taking Step One. We forgot things. We had blackouts. We made excuses, and we even started to believe them. We were mixed up. We couldn't figure things out. We decided to get high and forget about it.

Now, our minds are clear. We can keep thinking clearly if we work our program and Keep It Simple. Don't drink or use other drugs. Go to meetings. Work the Steps. Be yourself. Ask for help. Trust your Higher Power.

Two thoughts will always mess us up if we let them in. They are "Yes, but. .." and "What if?" Don't let them in. Keep It Simple.

Prayer for the Day
Higher Power, thanks for the recovery, Help me stay sober and clean today.

Action for the Day
Today. I'll take one thing at a time and Keep It Simple.

Great Subject!

The old-timers of the 50s' and 60s' era of AA had one common thread - The knew how to "keep it simple"

How many times I heard "get honest with yourself, go to meetings and don't take that first drink" not to mention that old AA adage "Utilize, don't Analyze"

I still believe we can *think* our way right out of this program!

So true, Tiger. As they say, we can't think our way into good living, we have to live our way into good thinking.

Don't pick up, keep coming, clean house, get in touch with the God of your understanding, and the miracles will happen.

Tonight I went to a Step Eleven group, it is always a special occasion to go there. I do a lot of meditation, but often in life it is hard to find that 'quiet' they talk about in the Third Step. When I go there, I know I will find it.
