A Life of My Own

We admitted.........

We have many things to admit if we really want the help of the program. We have to admit we have tried to control far more than is ours to control. We have to admit our short- comings to ourselves and to others. We have to admit we need to hear what others in the program want to share. We have to admit that we need a belief in a Higher Power for guidance and courage. We have to admit we have hurt others and need to make amends. Most of all, we have to admit we sincerely want better lives, ones with the joy and peace we deserve.

We won't be able to define our dreams for the future until we can clear our minds of the chaos of the past. The program will help us admit what we need to and accept what comes next. In a very short time, our vision for the future will resemble nothing from our past. Saner living and joy are expected.

Every time I admit the true nature of my behavior I am expressing my honest desire to find happiness. Today can be a new beginning for me.

This reading has special meaning for me today. A friend of two years came by for lunch, it was his birthday. Just after he left, a friend of 13 years called from Toronto to let me know he hopes to come to Hamilton next month, and wished me Happy New Year, with the hope that we can connect next month after not seeing each other for over four years.

Tonight I went to a meeting with a couple of friends and a couple of people who are very special to me were also there. One I Twelve stepped two years ago and the other one was a counsellor in the treatment facility I went to thirteen years ago.

Tomorrow I am meeting a friend for lunch, going shopping with another friend after lunch, and if I have time, going to look for a table and chair, then come home and go to my bridge club for a New Year's buffet and celebration.

I connected with two of my sponsees today, had a visit from my son and we pulled a wishbone after supper and mother won.

Mother has a life of her own.
