For me, a thought is a prayer. Which means, I have to watch my thinking!
Today in recovery, I don't have a drinking and drug problem, I have a thinking problem. I need to remember to pray, but more importantly I need to look at what I am asking for and am I playing God with my life as well as that of others.

I had to learn to change how I prayed. My prayers were selfish. They were telling my HP what i thought others around me needed and wanting HIm to grant that. I would pray...LET HIM BE SOBER TONIGHT. Or LET HIM PASS OUT SOON SO I CAN GET A COUPLE OF HOURS SLEEP BEFORE WORK. The prayers wer seldom answered like I wished. So I changed how I prayed. I went to something like...LET HIM HEAR FIND PEACE AND HAPPINESS...or WHISPER IN HIS EAR TE THIINGS HE NEEDS TO HEAR. Or LET HIM BE SAFE.
My re-worded prayers were answered more often. I felt better and learned to rely on my HP more often.
