Growth
STEP FIVE: Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
"Once we have taken this step, withholding nothing, we are delighted. We can look the world in the eye. We can be alone at perfect peace and ease. Our fears fall from us. We begin to feel the nearness of our Creator. We may have had certain spiritual beliefs, but now we begin to have a spiritual experience. The feeling that the drink problem has disappeared will often come strongly. We feel we are on the Broad Highway, walking hand in hand with the Spirit of the Universe."

In today, I don't have a drinking and drug problem. What I have is a thinking problem. This is a disease of perception, it is an allergy of the body and an obsession of the mind. That obsession can make it self known in many forms, in today.
I don't have a desire to use today, but that doesn't mean I don't need this program. It means I have to continue to apply the spiritual principles to my life to maintain my sobriety (soundness of mind).
I can be clean and sober and not have sobriety! Sobriety is essential, Serenity is optional!

Many people stay away from step four because they fear step five. Step four is taking an inventory of what is there in step 5 is taking stock and taking it to the boss to order what is in short supply and giving away the surplus.
The boss being my Higher Power. We can't give away what we don't have so we need to keep the shelves filled at as times. What use to work before, may not work in today. It may need to be scrapped or retooled to use at a later date. Some things may not have worked in the past, but after a talk with your supervisor (sponsor/mentor), you may find a need of it in today.what is wrong in today, may be right tomorrow.
Step Five is a freeing step.
