I have some thoughts on change.
change always involves risk...you can't keep one foot on first base and steal second.
When the horse dies, dismount.
the only difference between a rut and the grave is the depth.
change is a process, not an event
and a quote from John henry Cardinal newman... to grow is to change and to become perfect is to change often.

CHANGE... i am not always comfortable with change. I think the key is CONFORT. I like to do what is easiest and what I know how to do the best. We all have our ways of doing things that we get used to and CHANGE is not always in the plan.
Just think of all of the inventions we'd not have unless somebody was willing to change? cell phones, cars, microwaves, computers, appliances. Example. I had a grandmother who lived into her 90's. She had a wringer type washtub that she filled from a hose in the basement. When automatic washers and dryers came out, my dad talked her into buying a set. They were beautiful. And you know what? she still used the wringer washer and the clothes line most of the time. She had them about 20 years when she died and they were like new.
Some folks even have an aversion to change. We want to do what we've been doing but get different results. That does not work. (i learned inrecovery that's called INSANITY)
Times change. We need to change with the times. Our lives change. Our situations change. We need to be open minded to the new ways of doing things and CHANGE with them.
In recovery i have made many, many changes. Mostly i changed my attitudes about drinking and those who have addictions. I also realized controling the actions of others is NOT my job. that was a huge change. I wanted to change the world and realized i can only change ME.
It seems lately EOR is fading fast. The regulars dont even post these days. The regulars dont even attend meetings. How can we expect newcomers to join in? I chaired 2 meetings since the day the site opened. As of last night, I am not chairing any. Change. it does not feel good. it makes me sad that EOR has changed so much. most change is for the best. But if people today who dropped in only knew how vibrant and helpful and full of life and support this site once was, they'd be amazed.
People come and go in our lives and they touch our hearts. I want each of you here to know you have helped me change. And i do think i am a better person because of YOU.
Thanks for helpeing me change. Now to help me find the acceptance to handle this CHANGe of giving up my meetings. I loved the meetings and really needed them. But I guess it was time for me to change. It's jsut hard to stop crying. I guess I need to grieve a bit and then move on.
