If you had to pick one of the 12 steps that helped change your life for the better, which one woudl it be?
This is a close one for me. 1, 3, 4, & 11 seem to be the best for my life changing process. If I had to narrow it to only ONE, I'd have to say step 11.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
Before recovey i honestly thought my HP had given up on me. My prayers for many years were not being answered like I wanted. I figured HE did not have time for me, so why shoudl I waste time on HIM? But when I found recovery ...and heard all of this talk about a HP helping them get better, I had to give it a try. It was the best thing that happened to me in many years. Today I DO rely on my HP. I DO have a peace about me because my faith is very strong. my HP is with me...guides me, helps me along the way. My HP knows what I need and gives me jsut that. Sometiems it does nto match MY plans...lol, but in those cases i ahve learned to use ACCCEPTANCe AND MOVE ON.
By turning my will and my life...each day over to my GOD, I am able to let go of my former need to control everybody and everything aroudn me. I jsut put those people and situations in HIS capable hands and take care of myself today. WHEW! what a relief!
What is the most powerful step in YOUR recovery journey?

Ummmmmm.... Well--I'd have to say that first step. It got me where I needed to be to be WILLING to do the rest of the steps. Without that first one 2-12 wouldn't have happened. And honestly, I needed to surrender to that one and come to understand exactly what that first step was all about. Since I've 'come to' that awakening, my life has never been the same.
Now, if you ask which is my FAVORITE step--11, cuz I like my relationships with G-d and other people today as a result of that step. I never, EVER much cared for people OR G-d when I was out doing what I was doing. It's kinda cool actually having both those relationships today. Don't quote me on that........LOL

Picking just one Step ummm that's tough for me they are ALL important. Some days it's the 1,2,3 waltz somedays its all the steps. Just narrowing it down to one for me is almost immpossible. Each step has given me different values and different strengths.
One gave me the knowledge of just how little I control and just how crazy I am.
Two reminded me there is a God and He can help.
Three let me know I can make decsions, and that each persons belief system is, or could be different from my own.
Four made me take a good long look at myself the good. bad, and the ugly.
Five I had to share myself with God and another person
Six Finding the willingness to ask God for help
Seven Asking God for help
Eight Listing all the persons in my life who I hurt
Nine Saying I am sorry
Ten looking at myself daily to see if I am on the right track
Eleven Staying in touch with God DAILY
Twelve working the program in everything I do
For me there is no seperating these steps. Yes I may have the need to work one particular step more than another but they all build one upon another. And without a foundation the house would come tumbling down.
Just my humble opinion but I think we each work the steps we need at any given moment according to where we are in our recovery and our lives. (IMHO)

Every day I need to connect with Step One, which takes me to the rest of the Steps.
For me the Steps are about living today, I don't have to take them off the shelf, they are a part of me and tools to help me with life and it makes itself known, one moment at a time.
Several years ago a person asked me if I worked the Steps in today, and my response was "some days, all 12!" As I grew in awareness, I was able to apply them to a higher degree of affectiveness than I did new in recovery. As I heard someone say today, I am person in progress and I don't have to be perfect, just make it my higher aim.

Three was my favorite until I got to Eleven. The one that brought the most change and awareness would be Step Ten.
