I get double notices of meetings. Is there a way to change that so I only get one notice per meeting. Thanks, SL

Hi SaraLee,
Kathleen is the one mailing the notices and I have wondered about the need to send both of them. I've also noticed that the last few days the boards seem to be loading kind of slow, so I will get in touch with her and ask her to check it all out.....
Thanks for stopping by ;D SG

I get a notice and both of my email addresses. But Two freind here said they were getting 4 or 5 a day. That does not make sense. Kathleen will figure it out. I leeft her a phone message yesterday about the double posts and about the boards giving error messages. I have not heard from her yet.

Some days I get more than two reminders too...like this morning I had three reminders of last nights meeting in my box, and I forgot to mention this but I'm also getting double reminders for posts.
I've noticed the boards have been opening slow too. Thanks for taking care of this. SaraLee

Mornin Ladies and Dean..... There is obviously a glitch in the system that sends the "reminders", Kathleen is aware of the problem and working on it..... In the meantime, I read one and delete the others ;D Dean Thank you for sharing that link again...... I am glad you have found everything you need at this site. You will be missed, but I respect your choice! Just for today, I find everything I need right here at www.essence-of-recovery.com/Peace on the journey..... SG

I don't know why this is happing but I send out only one a day for the meeting reminders. In the past week I started sending one reminder throught the message boards here, and one for the mailing list that I have on my computer for the meeting reminders. So lets see if we can come up with a new plan of action for the meeting reminders. Maybe a list can be posted for all groups or the meeting for the group can be posted on their boards using a sticky. Any ideas? ? I am not going to send out the reminders any more, so lets put out heards together and come up with a new plan. My email server is all goofed up, and till the new server is done being built, there is nothing I can do but to stop sending out the reminders for now. Love you all Kathy PS: I almost forgot to say, I am the one that deleted Deans post. I didn't think that a recovery meeting reminder was spam? hmmmm but I have been wrong begfore.

Mornin Kathy....
Arghhhhh....... Glad I don't have all your headaces with dealing with this stuff. I know Lin sends reminders for her ACOA and Al-Anon meetings and thats a good thing but it is also posted on the message boards. Seems like double the work to me..... Each week I post the topic for the Thursday night Nar-Anon meeting and we have a meeting schedule. Seems like that would be enough ........
I do have to admit, we had a newcomer stop by, because of the meeting reminder. Soooooooo what ever works for the majority is fine with me.
Hugs, SG

I was confused abtu references to Dean and not seeing anythign Dean had written. Guess that's wht I get for goign to work all day. LOL
I dont think a meeting reminder is spam. I was under the impresion nobody got a meeting reminder UNLESS they signed up to do so. IS that correct?
I do send reminders personally to some of my close friends for the two metings each week that I chair. It's not a bother to me, but if anybody would prefer not to receive the one from me, jsut let me knwo and i wont send you one. I like knowing the topic all day so i can think of it. The reminders come anout an hour or less before the meeting. So i was tryign to help out with giving my freinds in my address book a heads up a little earlier.
Sorry to hear you are not going to send them for a while. Lots of necomers drop in because they got a reminder. I hope you figure how to make the posts stop multiplying themselves. THANKS Kathy!

Kathleen, IOP the best place for the meeting schedule is on the opening page of EOR, where click to get into the chat room or the forums. I know if it was there more people would read it and check it. I know I would check it if it was there. Our meetings seem to be quite stable now, and there aren't that many changes in meeting time/dates, so is that a viable option?
You could also leave the list of meeting times/dates on the thread in the forum as a second way to check them when people are in the forum reading posts. Thanks, SaraLee

I think it should be color coded. Something that says in bold.. in colors would get someones attention to click on to a reminder that there is a meeting. IF a new comer was to come here for the first time, they would see something in[glow=red,2,300] bright bold stand out color[/glow] would think to go there first... and for us that are here regularly would know its a place to check out along with the rest of the post made on the board for the day. IMHO..

Hi DG I liked your idea of colors for different things. I tried it out in the signiture test area. And it was a no go. The topic box would not accept the code for colors. Unless there is another way of doing this. Arlene

Hi every one ;D I have given this matter allot of thought and have come up with some thing I think we all can live with. Also this idea and inprovment to the home page will help the newcomer find the listed meetings for each night easier. Tried to add color so the list and links will stand out. I do hope you all like what I have come up with. Please let me kmow ok.... I love and like having your input for our web site of recovery EOR. NOW CHECK IT OUR !!!!! Let me know what you think ok. love Kathy

It looks like we are all in agreement, with having the meeting schedule posted on the home page.... It looks really good!
On the meeting reminders, down the road, if Kathy gets the system sorted out and wants to begin them again I think it's a wonderful idea. I think it was Lin that mentioned, we signed up to receive this notice, it's not spam, it's a reminder.
SaraLee's original post in this thread was about receiving multiple emails..... If we can figure out how to send the one reminder, I think it's worth doing. IMHO
Hugs to each, SG
