K is for Kindle. Nurture your friendships and relationships with family and friends. Be kind, a smile, a hug, an acknowledgment either by mail or a phone call helps to let them know you are thinking of them.

M is for Meeting. We each have to find our own program. We each need to find what works for us. We go to meetings and listen to others share. We can hear what works for them. We can take what we need, and as a friend says, "Take what you don't need and put it on your shelf, just in case you run into someone who does need it, and then you can pass it on. Each day is a new beginning. We just might need to trade off what we thought we needed for a newer model or completely delete it and find something to replace it. To get an attitude adjustment, go to a meeting.

K is for K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Sweetheart sounds much better than what I heard when I first come into recovery. No one needs to be called stupid, especially me. I was called that too many times in the past and I questioned myself. In recovery, I had to learn to build my self-confidence and know that just because I make a silly mistake, even if it is classed by some as stupid, doesn't mean I am Stupid or a Mistake.

O is for Options. Look at all your options and then come to a decision. We can get feedback from others, but ultimately, the decision is ours. For me, using was no longer an option, so I had to stay clean and sober. So what ever was suggested to me, I tried it. Some things were not right for me, but that was okay. I had tried.

Q is for Quit. Quit comparing and learn to identify. Don't be afraid of being different. Quit taking other people's inventory. Remember that when you point a finger, you have three fingers looking back at you. God loves you just the way you are.

R is for Recovery. We do recover from that hopeless state of mind and body. We recover from the damage our addiction has done to us, but we don't stop being an addict. That is why I have to say to myself, "Just for today, I choose not to use people, places, and things. We need to balance our day with working on our Steps and applying the Traditions with healthy fun and me moments.

T is for Trust. If you doubt yourself, you are doubting your Higher Power. The Bible says, "Trust in the Lord and He will direct your path." A new song I have not heard: Troubles come and they don't last, Cause deep in my heart, I'll trust, Trust in the Lord and He will make a way, Trust in the Lord; He will make a way There are things I just don't seem to understand, But I'll still trust Trust in the Lord and He will make a way, Trust in the Lord; He will make a way. When I feel the weight of the world on me, Thoughts and opinions I cannot please, I know that the Lord holds my destiny, I will Read more: Fred Hammond - Trust In The Lord Lyrics | MetroLyrics

W is for Willing. We need to be willing to take the suggestions, especially those of a long timer, and apply them to our lives. We need to go to meetings. We need to let go of our old friends and make new one in recovery. It may seem odd, there are some in the program we wouldn't have drank with. Keep coming so you don't have to come back. If you have trouble finding the level of willingness you need, pray for it.

Y is for You. When you are new in the program, you are the most important person in the room. The program suggests that you get into service. You can get involved in service by passing on the message that was given to others. It says we have to give 'it' away in order to keep it. We have to know what it is, we can't give away what we never had.
