Topic: 2005 Chipping Away at Character Defects Chip
This list of character defects is what I have on my set of poker chips. The idea Father John Doe (First Alcoholic Priest in AA) had
was to draw a chip every day and work and be aware ot that particular character defect just for that day. I try not to offend
my chip of the day and over a period of time these defects have improved gradually. It works if ya work it!!! Good Luck!!!---Mistyeve

I discovered a few more possible chips on a sheet I found from a rehab in 1992. It included the ones you have in your list and a few more. I know your chips are already made and this is not meant to get you to change them. It is an additional list some of us might choose from if we want to share more than once in a day and have shared on your chip.
I think it has some very interesting choices! (And I notice some of the words you use are paired with a different word here.)

When I'm being honest with myself I can look at this
list and get inspired.... most times I will say a short
prayer and ask God "what are we going to work on
today Lord".... There is nothing I can't fix with His
help, I am a work in progress!

Chip for the day 5/26/15=Honest/Dishonest. I am back after 10 years of tech. difficulties and personal problems. I started and suggested this column of "Chipping Away at Character Defects" under the name of Misty Eve. My name has changed now to Bunnypie. I have forgotten about the chips and not worked them. I feel a burning desire to try to as the Beatles would say "Get Back to where you once belonged" I found the dish of chips in my desk drawer when I was cleaning it out. I had a lot of tech. difficulties trying to find and log back into this site. I am glad I managed to find it and will try for discipline to do a chip a day and chip away at my character defects. Honest-Open Minded-Willing = HOW it works!!!!-------Bunnypie

So good to see you Bunnypie. Welcome home. I have been trying to keep the fires burning, you started me on the journey, and I will be forever grateful. I gave my chips away to a sponsee, but I still work them in my own way by trying to be honest as to what I need to work on, in today. Seeing as you have your set of chips, hope you will start doing the daily chip again. Hope you will continue to come and share your journey with us. |

My chip for today is Stubborn/Willing. I am trying to make this a win/win chip. I am stubborn about staying sober and willing to do the steps and the chips and make meetings on a regular basis. I am going to have to be "stubbornly willing" to learn how to navigate this site. It has changed a lot in ten years! I am very grateful that it is still here........Bunnypie aka Misty Eve

Thanks for sharing. I can certainly identify. I am trying to get the readings for today posted. I had hoped to go to my Al-Anon meeting, and had many plans for today, but I had to be willing to let go and do what I needed to do for my health. I wanted to be stubborn and not come home and just fight the pain and ignore it, but it wouldn't go away.
I didn't have the right inhaler with me. I had to take a time out and sit on a bench and do a little prayer and meditation. I was going to go to the hairdressers, but tomorrow is another day.
My sister called me yesterday and I called her back but couldn't talked to her. Along with that stubborn willingness, I need acceptance.

As a long-timer once shared, he had 13 cans with defects of character and only 12 lids. So as a result, he had a defect of character running around at any given moment.
Many times we have one running around incognito, because we don't always recognize them for what they are.
