The recent snow storm of 5 inches of snow has caused some chaos with travel times and road conditions. I was out shoveling and I had a moment of serenity seeing how pretty the snow looks on the branches of the bare trees. Do you have chaos or serenity? Please let me know! Thanks----Mistyeve

Good Morning Mistyeve,
We have had terrible weather here too rain, snow, sleet and now fog. The fog is so dense I can't see the house across the street. Kinda weird and eerie only to see the glow of a few lights.
Serenity/Chaos
Now that the holidays are over and everyone here is back to their schedules (more or less) things have settled down quite a bit. I love the holidays but there is always the hustle and bustle to get things done. I guess I move at a slower pace and tend to enjoy the world around me.
There will be some new things going on here. Hubby got a promotion so now he will have different days off. (He had split days Wed. & Sun.) Now he will have weekends off. So it will bring change. But I don't forsee it as chaos. Just adapting and changing and going with the flow. That is one thing the program has given me ... the ability to adapt and change to be a lot more flexible. I guess that is me coming out of me. Not being stuck on myself and my wants. I am just enjoying the peace and solitude after the busy holidays wrapped in a blanket of serenity.
Love and God Bless Arlene

We have had snow and freezing rain which always leads to chaos on the roads. We didn't get a lot of it, but it looks like it may stay around and give a base for more, because it is so cold. My son may not feel serenity, he is out there shovelling it. Mother doesn't have to shovel, so she likes it, mind you I didn't stick my nose out into it either today. Nothing happened as they were scheduled except my friend arriving for supper. I phoned him and gave him a option of staying home, but he chose to come over. Maybe it was the thought of pork tenderloin stuffed with garlic and onions, mushroom gravy, dressing, brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes that called to him. He recognized the insanity of coming out in the weather by the time he got here, yet we had a good evening. We toasted the year in with a glass of white grape juice. Thank God for the program and the friends you meet along the way, and the good times that accumulate as a result of being sober. It is nice to have serenity instead of total chaos in today. My mind can still go there, yet it doesn't often stay there.

My lie has alot of chaos, but I handle it with a serene attitude. Accepting that I cannot change things...letting go of the need to control....letting go of anger and resentments....turning problems over to my HP, using the serenity prayer, not sweating the small stuff, taking care of myself...all help me keep serene in the midst of chaos. I think another thing is I find gratitude in many more things that I used to and gratitude can help me remain serene. Chaos happens. I might not enjoy parts of a day sometimes, but I don thave to allow them to ruin the rest of ithe day.
Lildee...I think having the weekend off will be nice. that should be a change in routine that you can really enjoy!
And Misty..I also love the snow when it's on the branches of the trees. I dont care for it on the streets. We ahd 17 inches but within 10 days every sign of it was melted. I was amazed. Today and yesterday we had very cold drizzle and wind, but so far no more SNOW.

I have a choice to deal with the chaos of going out in the heavy rain and dealing with traffic and crazy drivers in this particular kind of weather, OR stay at home in what I call SerenityLand right now cuz is sooo quiet here. I think that I know what I want to do today.

heavy traffic and bad weather DO tend to help us make that choice! Good to hear from you DG!

Prior to recovery, I loved chaos, living on the edge, the not knowing, the excitement and hype. If chaos wasn't happening, I often created it.
In today, life still goes on, but I changed and healed. I have been given the tools to deal with it, and instead of being a part of it, I can detach and go with the flow and let be. I don't have to take it on unless it is my stuff, and even if it is my stuff, my Higher Power helps me to deal with it, and it says in the Promises, we will handle situations which use to baffle us. I never felt it baffled me, I figured I controlled it, yet that was all an illusion. As they say, if you have to control it, it is already out of control.
