I am real tired of winter. We have had lots of snow and single didget temps. I can really get into self pity over the endless winter. I just have to hang in and hang on... Do you have self pity or are you self forgetful? Please let me know Thanks!-----Mistyeve

I won't get into self pity over the weather because i know I could move to a warmer climate if I wanted. But you know hwat? I'd p[robably think it was too HOT all the time if I did that. So accept that the weather here is like it is. My best friend in high school lived here. She bought a condo in Florida. And later bought an additional home in Florida where she had a home and a beach house. She sold her parents home here where she lived. Gues what? Within 3 months of moving there Florida was hit with several hurricanes. I'd bet she wished she was back in kentucky. But Misty...you are single...you don't really like your job....what is keeping you in the long, cold winters? ? If you like the big city, Atlanta or Nashville might be nice. Houston or LA might be nice. Self pity? i also get out of that mode if it starts to creep in by finding gratitude. I am waiting for lab results from my doctor to se if I change my weekly pill for osteoporosis to another weekly pill or if I must change to daily shots in the stomach for 2 years. I'm not looking forward tot he idea of the shots, but i may not have a choice. I'll try not to find self pity over taking shots. I guess the gratitude will be...this will rebuild my bone density. And perhaps...I can remind myself that it's ONLY for 2 years. Self forgetful to me means THOUGHTFUL. I Do try to be thoughtful of others...helpful in many ways...let them know i think of them and care. LIN

My VEry Dear Lin---I sure hope all your medical stuff turns out okay for ya. I am not ready to make a geographical cure right now. I moved 4 times in 6 months and I need to rest and settle for a while also I signed a lease for a year and want to honor that so as not to mess up my credit. You are on to something tho with the idea of a better climate. Thanks so much for stopping by! Love & Hugs--Mistyeve

Good Morning Mistyeve, Having the winter blues is not uncommon. Changes in light and temp. can affect our mood. Lots of people get this way. Lots of light and warmth help. Check this article:- www.nmha.org/infoctr/factsheets/27.cfmIt's ok to sit on the pity pot but remember when your finished to flush and (shut the lid please) ! Knowing that you are in the self pitying mode is half the battle. For me that means a change is in order. A change of attitude or a change in the way I am doing things. Sipice it up with a change. The constant rut of doing the same things over and over can get to you. Have your dessert first for dinner then the main course. What difference does it make? Lots it's a change from the ordinary. Love and God Bless Arlene

It is easy to have self pity when your sick especially if you have so many things to get done. When I take some medication I want results quick without anymore pain. The same thing could be said of sobriety I want fast results from my higher power now on my terms without pain, and it just doesnt work that way.In HISS TIME not mine.

My Very Dear Arlene Honey----I think you are on to something! My sister has that light deficiency problem where she gets real depressed from not enought sunlight. She keeps lots of bright lights on in the house. I think the winter blahs are kicking in for me. My Mom is a 30 year long Alanon and she says "bloom where your planted" I guess that is Alanon??? Good advice and I try to follow it. So glad you could stop by! Thanks for the great ideas!---Mistyeve

Well self-pity never got me too far, certainly never got me out of the house and living my life. I can't let the weather rule my life any more than I can my pain. Yesterday I showed up at my bridge club along with 47 others. There might have been a touch of insanity seeing as we knew a storm was being forecast, but it was better to be with friends than sitting fretting about not being there.
I was thinking about the fact that they call it a "Pity Party", yet what kind of celebration is that. Look at what we bring to it:- low self-esteem, depression, no self-worth or respect, no direction and connection with God, lack of foregiveness and tolerance, and the list goes on.....
