I am proud to hopefully run into Tiger today at the 10:30am John Doe meeting. He has lots of good stuff to share and lots of time in the program. It makes me humble to listen to the John Doe tapes and realize that he STILL sounds good and makes a lot of sense after all these years. The talks he gives on the tapes are about 40 years old!!! Are you humble or proud? Please let me know! Thanks----Mistyeve

I try to be HUMBLE in asking for help. In being willing to change...to hear the other side. But i can also see myself once in a while in the PRIDE side when I am so proud of myself that I brag. If a person says you looke great! What have you dione? i COULD say I joined weight watchers and lost some weight. Nope Not me. If they start it like that i tell them I lost 65 pounds and kept it off for well over a year. I can see that as BRAGGING. When my dog has its picture on a national calendar, I want to shout it from the rooftops. That's PRIDE...haughtiness..bragging. And i know in those few instances i AM a bragger. When a person asks abut my vehicle, I thank them. I may tell them I am enjoying it alot. But i DON"T go back at them with how much it costs.

Good Morning Mistyeve,
Pride/humility
For me I feel this is a win - win chip.
A certain amount of pride gets me moving to get up and get dressed and look like a normal person. I also am proud of the accomplishments that I have made in my lifetime.( But not in a bragging way. In a self contained way). I am proud of my family for all the things that they have done and accomplished.
I am also humble as I keep my pride to myself. My humility keeps me teachable and learning all the time.
Love & God Bless Arlene

Humility I was told was "to remain teachable," the key word being 'remain.' I was told that as I grow in this program, I must always be open to learning and not come to a place where I think I know it all and that my way is the only way.
Humble doesn't mean that I feel less than, it does not mean that I have to give in, it means for me that I need to acknowledge other things other than my own concept of what is. I can walk my truth, and I must let other's walk theirs, like the slogan says, "Live and let live!"
I don't think there is anything wrong with being proud of our accomplishments, our gifts and those special people, places and things in our life. Undo glory, is not good, but taking pride in ourselves is very important. Most of us had low self-esteem because we put ourselves down or compared ourselves to others and always felt less than most of our life. I know that for me, I need to endorse myself, not look outside of myself for my self-worth.
