The sobriety coins that are given at meetings around here have a phrase on them that says TO THY OWN SELF BE TRUE. I have to be loyal to myself and my sobriety first of all. I am loyal to this column and my job and friends and family. I've just got to keep my sobriety as top priority. Are you loyal or disloyal??? Please let me know!!!! Thanks----Mistyeve

Dear John---Thanks for being a loyal participating member of this column. I really appreciate it so much! We do have a lot of ghosts who don't post and I don't know if that can be considered loyal or not but anyway thanks for stopping by!! Mistyeve

I consider myself to be a very loyal person. To me that means being there for the person or group. It means doing my part to support. Taking up for them. Taking less than if I supported an opponent (such as my paycheck...supporting the private school for $10,000 less a year vs. public school across town...been there 35 years)
I am loyal to my friends, my family, my recovery groups both f2f and online, my jobs , amd my church. I am also a daily supporter of this column. I rarely miss a day of posting a reply to t he chip.

Dear Lin----I am so glad you stop by to talk about the chip of the day cuz I would be talking to myself otherwise! I want to thank you so much for your loyalty. We do have a number of people who read but don't post and it sure would be great if they could do both! Thanks for stopping by!------Mistyeve

Owie...LOL I'm one of those inconsistent ones who posts on an irregular basis. If that's a measure of my overall loyalty, I think I'm in deep cah-cah! ;D
My loyalties belong with G-d. I have purpose and a design for my life as I go about the business in following His will for me. Do I toss a bit of self-will in there on occasion, obviously..I ain't 'done' yet. Ultimately, I'm striving for perfection and accepting less cuz I'm not G-d. Do I sometimes accept the unacceptable--I'd like to say 'no' to that, but again, my humanness enters into the equation and I'm still a work in progress, no doubt.

I guess I am disloyal to irregular postings too huh. But even tho... I may skip postings.. Misty, I do read your chip each day.... I am still ........ ...... GUILTY>>> Overall I am very loyal to my family and to my husband. I believe in being loyal because its part of what makes me be a better person all the way around in growth, and spiritually.

Misty writes: I have often alluded to the ability the old-timers of the 60s', 70s' era of AA to explain profound ideas' in "simple terms". At a meeting in the 60s' an old-timer explained AA with the following metaphore: AA is like a big perculator containing the steps, meetings, principles and fellowship but when you turn the sprocket on it comes out "drip, drip" which means "don't drink"! Today, it might come out "drip, drip, drip" which means "don't drink, drug" Still trying to "keep it simple" Tiger
