I assume Misty has not picked up her computer yet, so I checked the list for a chip we'd not had in a while. I saw HUMOR/HUMORLESS.
I am on the side of HUMOR today. I love to smile, love to laugh, love to tell jokes and hear jokes. (But I draw the line with certain ones.) I like to have fun and i like to try to help those around me have fun with humor.
I was at a funeral home this week for a neighbor. It's not a time for jokes, I realize that. But i recalled a funny story about the deceased to some of the family members...recalling a memory we both shared and we both smiled. I'm sure she had not smiled much that day and perhaps that felt good.
Humorless?I have had those days in my life...when things were not going well for me, my plans were changed, i was not in control, and it seemed the more i pouted and sulked, the worse my day became. today I try to avoid those days. I dont like how they feel. If i see one starting, I change gears. I do soemthing within my control to change the subject and make my day more enjoyable.
Do you se youself as humor or humorless?
LIN

YEAH! Finally one I can say I DO....LOL I do have humour. It's rare that I can't find something (or invent something) to laugh about! Admittedly, sometimes it's wrong time, wrong place...LOL But I DO have humour! The flip side--is sometimes I take life too dang seriously and forget to laugh at G-d's sense of timing and the irony. I can frown at Him, tell him I'M not laughing and get about the business of throwing myself in front of someone who'll whap me a good one and help me adjust that attitude! Used to be I'd hole up so me and my humourless moment could have a good pity party. Today, I get to kvetch three times and get over it...LOL I must be getting better--sometimes I don't even spend those three times!

I was at a meeting about humor yesterday, and the gist of the meeting was you can't take yourself to seriously, yes alcoholism is a serious disease, every other month it seems like I hear about someone dying from it.At the same time though I can't go thru life grim and humorless, life is to be enjoyed.

Good Morning Lin,
Humor/Humorless
For the most part I think I have a decent sense of humor. (Decent meaning appropriate). But there are times when the chaos runs a muck that humor is put on the back burner due to the gravity of this disease. That is when I have to kick my program into high gear and regain my serenity. Thanks for posting the chip today.
Love & God Bless Arlene

Life is imposible without humor. Mind you, I had to go to God and ask healing for mine.
One of the biggest gifts of recovery was learning not to take MYSELF so seriously. Recovery is serious, but the road to recovery can be fun if I lighten up and make the decision to enjoy life in today.

Hey I am so glad to see a chip posted and one of my favorite topics-Humor. I am the "self appointed" moral officer at work and I bring in the "joke of the day for everyone who is interested to read. It gets a lot of people smiling so I do feel good about that. I love to hunt for jokes online at joke sites or if people send them to me. The Big Book says "we are not a glum lot---if new comers could see no humor the would not want to join us. We absolutely insist on having fun" My all time favorite quote from Bugs Bunny is "DON'T TAKE LIFE SO SERIOUS DOC YOU WILL NEVER GET OUT OF IT ALIVE!" So glad to have a workable keyboard and good to be here, Love & Laughs Mistyeve
