I just LOVE the AA Responsibility Declaration:I AM RESPONSIBLE WHEN ANYONE ANYWHERE REACHES OUT FOR HELP I WANT THE HAND OF AA ALWAYS TO BE THERE AND FOR THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE. I need to remember this as I try to pass the msg on to others. Are you responsible or irresponsible??? Please let me know! Thanks----Mistyeve

I try to be responsible, I haven't been asked for help by a newcomer but I always make my name and phone # available and speak at first step meetings, I figure if I can make it anyone can.

Dear John---I was told early on in my recovery that responsible is just being able to respond. You're making yourself available to new people and that is responding. Thanks for stopping by!----Mistyeve

We also have that saying in AlAnon. We say it at the end of our meeting. It's called the AlAnon/AlAteen declaration.
Responsbile...I do work hard to be responsible. I take my jobs seriously. I get there early and I do extra things above and beyond I disagreeigned duties. I also give 110% when I am asked to be on a committee.
For a while I had to back off in fact. I saw I was being OVERLY responsible. If a job was not being done by the person who SHOULD have done it. I did it. I was taking on the work of others. Does that make sense?
Today I ahve a balance. I still go to both of my jobs early and give it my bestl...do extras, etc. And I still gie 110% on committee work. (But I jsut dont say YES to those requests as often...don't volunteer as often.)

Dear Lin----I know what your saying about being overly responsible. I heard someone say in a meeting once "I'm not responsible for saving the world by the weekend" This puts it all into balance for me. Thanks for stopping by!----Mistyeve

Today I was responsible by making appointments and keeping them. I was responsible and returned phone calls. I was responsible to my health and well being by taking a time out today, so I could meet my committment tonight.
