I accept the fact that I was fired from my sponsor and dumped by my boy friend all in the same day. I've got defiance in that I will pick up the pieces and probably be better off without either one of them. Do you have acceptance or defiance??? Please let me know!!! Thanks-----Mistyeve

All on the same day? bummer!
The Serenity prayer reminds me I can accept the things I cannot change and change the things i can. No need for defiance. Accepting is a better way. If there is nothing I can do about something, ACCEPT and move on.
I dont have to like something or approve of it to accept it.
No need to get agitated over someting totally oput of my control. ACCCEPT.

Dear Lin---The Serenity prayer gives the perfect advice on acceptance:"God Grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change..." I have worn that prayer out saying it so much! Thanks for stopping by!----Mistyeve

In today I have, yesterday was another story. I did not like being in the hospital for my birthday and then being sent home. My defiance was ordering $30 of Chinese food and stuffing. I didn't eat it all at once, in fact I had some left over to stuff the feeling when I came home from the hospital yesterday. I still have Chinese food for today.
Today, thanks to a lot of prayer and good wishes from many friends, I am feeling better. I am looking forward to going to see my doctor on Monday. Maybe I should save the Chinese food until after I see him.

Dear Caressa----Glad to hear you are feeling better! Yeah that Chinese food is amazing! They can stuff tons of food into these tiny little containers. I am always amazed by that! Thanks for stopping by Honey!----Mistyeve

Misty writes: . I've told this story before but it bears repeating: During the mid-sixties I was at an AA meeting in Chicago. I bought a pen and paper with me to make notes - like when we went to school - to make notes on how AA works An old-timer asked me what I was doing and I told him. He said to forget the notes as he would tell me how AA works in three words after the meeting when we went to the resturant. I waited in anticipation....AA reduced to three words? At the resturant he said "take out your pen and paper and write the following *Accept, Accept,Accept"....the whole program reduced to three words" As the sober years finally came I realized the wisdom of that statement! If I truly took that 3rd step.....nothing is happening by mistake in my life and ultimately *good* will come out of my present circumstances i.e. "Divine Providence* I don't know the reason I had a bout with cancer last year nor my wife's loss of eyesight, severe back pains from surgery two years ago plus now pneumonia. But.....I do know God permitted it for a *good reason* that I can't see right now but will be revealed at a later date here or in eternity! Tiger

The other day my hubby was saying how fusterated that he still hasn't been able to find work after being out for 2 months, I told him that everything is happening for a reason and that God usually has a plan for us, to accept the things for the way they are now, and be grateful that we are still here. I do think in the back of my mind the panic feeling of how things are, but this whole thing still applies to step one: powerless to control the situation for today. Tomorrow is another day, and who knows things might look up in a better way.

Dear Tiger----Thanks for the rerun of that story! It is a good one! So sorry to hear your wife is still in bad shape. I will sure be saying some prayers for her and you too! Thanks for stopping by! Great to hear from you!-----Mistyeve
Dear DG----Job hunting is real tough on the self esteem. The only thing I did was send out tons of resumes and pound the streets for in person interviews. The more jobs you apply for the better the chances are something will happen! The odds be with you! Good Luck!!! ----Mistyeve
