I keep Monday morning from being too chaotic by laying out my clothes for the day and packing my lunch the night before. It saves me time and decisions that can blow my serenity. Do you have choas or serenity??? Please let me know! Thanks!-----Mistyeve

You crack me up sometimes misty. Choices about what to wear or what to eat for lunch can blow your serenity? I agree this is a great timesaver. I do it myself. But I dont do it to keep from getting frazzled. I do it to save time. It's part of my being overly organized.
There is chaos all around us every day. Things happen that we cant control. Things happen that change our plans. The way to use this chip is how we let them affect us. I can handle them by gracefully and quietly moving into a PLAN B...or I can allow myself to get caught up in the craziness of them. I caln keep my serenity or I can get sucked up into the chaos.
Another thing I do is positive self-talk. I talk to myself...telling me this is no big deal. it's like the phrase DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF. What to wear, what to pack for lunch, what to watch on TV...is small stuff. Asking myself...Will THIS decision matter in 20 years? 100 years? Then it's not something I need to get worked up about. That helps me make decisions and choices without any problems. It helps me deal with chaos and maintain my serenity.
Example...I go to f2f Alanon meetings every Monday night. We knew NEXT Monday the church woudl be locked because of 4th of July. We did not know it would be off limits tonight due to Vacation Bible School. Somebody figured it out yesterday. We dont have time to announce it at a meeting. We have some newcomers who jsut started coming and they will probably show up and nobody be there. In a few minutes I am making signs for the doors and taking them over there. Instead of worrying about it, I will take what action i can and let it GO.
hang in ther Misty! you can do this without losig your serenity! You have a full plate right now. Don't sweat the small stuff. it really helps!

Dear Lin----An old timer in AA once told me about the "broken shoe lace syndrome" I can manage real well thru the big heavy dramatic stuff like possible loss of job or loss of lifetime mate but let me break a shoe lace or stub my toe or any "little" thing and it can set me off to drinking in a heart beat! This disease is cunning, baffling, & powerful. I don't understand it but I do know that I have to be careful of this goofy little stuff. Thanks for stopping by!------Mistyeve

Evening Mistyeve,
Chaos vs serenity
hmmm... a little chaos mixed with a lot of serenity. Yep that is where I am at today. Chaos over who is getting the on-line computer, serenity playing with the fish tank and taking care of the plants. Generally a peaceful day.
Yep sometimes for me too it is the little things that annoy me. I do OK with the big stuff but when those little annoyances pile up ... that's when I take a serenity break, and get away from it all.
Love & God Bless Arlene

I am the same way, the dinkiest small stuff usually throws me for the loop, and I have to reel my self back to the "Let it go,and let my serenity take over." For some reason I think that the big stuff don't really get me as bad is that I know that my HP won't give me so much that I am unable to handle it. Have a good evenign Misty.

Dear Arlene----I used to know some one who had 2-3 fish tanks and it was so relaxing and almost hypnotic to stare at them. Plants are real soothing to look at too! You have some serenity promoters right in your own house! Thanks for stopping by! Good to hear from you too Honey!----Mistyeve
