I ahve been an "organized" person for most of my life. I took this trait on as a kid. Both parents were active alkies. They drank and fought alot. Insted of listening to the chaos in the den, I'd go in my room and organize my dresser, my closet, my chest of drawers. I did this to keep order in the chaos of my life. it was my only way to find comfort when I tucked myself away out fo the line of fire.
As an adult I am still organized. I dot go to the extent of ABC order in my canned goods...nothing that drastic. But I do use alot of clear storage containers and label them. I do this at home and at school. That helps me go to something when I need it.
For a whiel in my life...after recovery I thought perhaps i was a bit TOO organized..it was like I felt overly organized. So i laxed up quite a bit. Now i can still go to something most of the time when I need it, but I have alot more clutter in my life than I used to.
Are you organized or disorganized?

Thanks for sharing Lin. I do believe we are products of our environment and it is often how we reacted at the time to the situation on hand. My reactions were the opposite. My mother was a food addict and she generally spent her time on the couch and wouldn't do anything for days, then she would do everything at once. Starting at the top of the house and going to the bottom, she was organized in her own way about getting everything done.
In some ways I can be very organized, such as in my mind and see how things can be done, but don't often follow it up with action.

With an addict, two teen - agers and a hamster and goldfish my life is organized chaos. LOL I keep it relatively orderly with a giant wall calendar. Everyone here puts their schedule on the calendar. If it's not posted I don't know about it and that is just too bad. It is my way of making time for me and all the things I need to do.

Interesting how we all have our own ways of being organized.
I also do the calendar thing. We ahve one in the bedroom for my hubby's appointments. The one in my computer room is for my appointments, my WW meetings, birthdays, DOS and anniversary dates, church ministries, etc. My holiday shopping is a notebook with everybody's names. Then as I order something i write it in pencil...when it comes in I trace it in ink. As i purchase something I write it in ink. That way when I wrap before Thanksgiving, I can look back and remember what it is inside that package. It's only Nov. 13...I have 83 people and 18 pets I buy for. When the last order is in, I will only have 2 more people and most of the animals to buy for. (then whent he holiday sales start..i can shop for ME or for next year.)
Thanks for stopping by to post on this chip.
