Both sides of this chip applies to my life in the moment. I have just not had the energies and direction to post. Beside health issues and going to specialists, I have been busy doing other things like reading, shopping, going to f2f meetings and sponsoring two new girls.
I missed six weeks of bridge, so you know I was sick. I have been put on two new medications. The first was prednisone. The side affects is generally weight gain and I lost 8 pounds. I was diagnosed with something called polimyalgia. Not sure if that is the right spelling. It is for body pain caused by arthritis. My body hurt to touch. Today I was put on hydroxvchoroquine for the arthritis in my feet and hands. The pain has been quite bad lately and hopefully this will work.
I have been trying to practice self-care. Being on the computer for any length of time was causing me a lot of pain. Hopefully, with the new medication I will be able to find some kind of balance.
Love and hugs to you all. Have missed you.

Welcome back Caressa. I figured you were ill...or you would have popped in from time to time.
Helpful to others or self indulgent?
I rarely consider myself as being SELF-INDULGENT. I try to be helpful to others much more often than self indulgent. I do try to make sure my own needs are MET...such as sleep, food, spiritual time, etc. And I dont indulge in myself very often. There has to be a balance between taking care of ME and of OTHERS. But I do go out of my way to help when I can.
Example. I work 2 meetings many Thursdays. SOme I only work 1. They needed me to work Thursday at 4, but I had a manicure appointment. They tried 2 other people and they could not work either. I got my nails done and went on in. I got there before the meetings started and worked. But I did not get paid for that hour and a half early I was there working. I only got paid for the second meeting. I did it because I knew she'd need help. I was going anyway...so why not go early??? I also get to school at 6. We need to be there by 7:15. If another teacher has morning cafeteria or parking lot duty and is sick, I fill in. That happend usually at least once a month. No problem.
I do things like that very often. It's my GOOD DEED for the day. I dont resent it. I enjoy it.And I know others appreciate it.
When i get out of SELF..and into helping others, I don't dwell on my own problems.
LINDA
