This reminds me that it has to begin with me.
Respect is earned. It isn't something that can be granted just because someone thinks they deserve it.
Again, honesty is the key for me. If I don't respect myself, how can I truely expect others to.

I felt very disrespected on Wed. My class went tot he next school to see where they would be going next year. During lunch I sat with the teachers inthe lounge. When i went back to pick up my students the PRINCIPAL came up to me and pointed her finger in my face and said One of YOUR students was flicking food at th table! The way she said it to me I felt Like I had been the one flicking the food...like I had encouraged them to do it. I learned it was paper, flipped in a sthingy and it was 2 of mine and 2 of another teacher's at a different table. I was very disappointed in them, but I was more disappointed that a principal woudl treat a teacher that way.
When I get disrespected it only strengthens my resolve to always treat others with respect.

Thank you for sharing Lin. It isn't easy to be centered out in a roomful of others. Being a principle she would be more accepting of kids acting out and not blame you. You are powerless over their actions. You can lead, guide and direct, what they do with the lessons is beyond your control as much as you would like them to behave.
