Just for today, I am grateful for the program of recovery that I have found through the 12 Steps. I am especially grateful that I don't have to live in the insanity of this disease. My sponsor told me a long time ago, a grateful addict will never have reason to pick up. He/She may find lots of excuses but he/she will never have a reason. Recovery makes me grateful for all things big and small. Just for today, I am grateful for my sobriety, my health, food, shelter, my family and friends, the sunshine and the rain, and the members of EoR. After seeing my son this morning, caught up in that insanity and feeling the affects of the night before, I am really grateful to be clean and sober. He stopped in at my place to get a bus ticket to get to work. He had to walk twenty blocks to get here.

I'm very thankful for the blesings inmy life today. 20 years ago I thought my chance for happiness was totaly hopeless. I am thankful for my recovery, my family, my faith, my freinds. I use a gratitude list often and thank my HP for even the small things.
