Heyloo.. Well the 4th came and went with another year down for my hubby being clean and sober on a holdiay that usually for drinking and doing drugs to celebrate a holiday. IF you knwo what I mean. We decided to go on my son's boat this year out in the San Diego Bay to celeberate the 4th. Usually hubby wants to stay home. IT was a great site to see all the boats all over the bay. Lots of people partying and it was great for me not to have to wonder if he is going to slip. The first year or two I was always like fearful that it would happen, it took me a while to relize that when you keep remembering all the hard work you had to do working on the program and knowing fully well that you can't change that person only you can change yourself makes life a lot easier to deal with now adays. Made me more proud of my husband that day and made the whole holiday worth it too. As I have remebered lots of 4th that was crappy and full of sadness. But for me to go out the bay again after being all up down feeling for 2 days is a questionable one!

How wonderful for both of you!
The 4th of July was the very worst one in our lives for many eyars. I rememebr a time period in the late 1980's that he either ended up in a hospital of jail because of 4th of July celebrations. That happened 5 our of 6 years straight.
There's jsut somehting about holding roman candles in your hand and lighting them...the kind you are supposed to put in a pipe on the ground l, light and run like crazy.
One other eyar was the xanax and sleeping pills ..take a few halcion to come down, take a few xanax to come up, drink some more beer, repeat. When the halcion got to 20, we had to go tote hospital ebcause his blood pressure was so low he could not walk or stand up.
I am happy your hubby has found sobriety. Mine knows what do to, but has drank 4 times this week. MOnday i went to my f2f alanon meetings. I was gone and hour and 35 minutes. In that tuime, he drove to the liquor store and bought 3 pints of vodka and drank all three. I dont see how he's alive, but he is.
Congrasts DG1 It's good news to hear it's working for you and yours!
