SUNDAY CHIP---SELF-PITY/SELF-FORGETFUL
I grabbed this chip out and am having a difficult time with it. Way back in the beginning of my recovery, I could give a heck of a "pity party". The whole problem was, no one came but ME. I've grown a lot since then, instead of feeling sorry for myself, I look for a solution and set out to "change the things I can"......
Self-forgetful, nope not any more! I've learned it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease! It's OK for me to ask for what I need and have a reasonable right to expect that I get it. "Honey" and I have an excellent marriage, there is no CEO, just a partnership built on trust.
Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

Self pity I understand. That is when it is all about ME ME ME and more about ME. The only times I have thought about drinking since sobered up was when I was in a self pity poop bag and it was all about ME ME ME not having MY way. Best way for me to get out of ME ME ME and self pity is to work with others or at least stop and take other peoples feelings and concerns into mind. As for self-forgetful, you lost me on this one. Not real sure what that means. Maybe I self forgot what it meant QUACK QUACK QUACK Have a great day. Ron

Self-forgetful = disregarding your own welfare over that of others.
To me this means my recovery comes first. I am no good to anyone if I don't do what it take to keep me and my sanity in check.
Mr. Duck you do QUACK ME UP!
Have a good one..... SG
