I was shocked when I came into recovery and heard how many people hated Christmas. After I heard a few people's stories, I realized why it was a difficult time for them.
I had a few I would like to forget (the year I quit smoking and stayed home alone with a TV dinner), yet on the whole, it has been good time for me. I love presents, yet for me that isn't the meaning of Christmas. When I focus on the reason for the holiday and remember it is just another 24 hours, it is good.
My first sober Christmas I was with family but then went to the Area Social Club which was open 24 hours over the holidays to share with those who didn't have family. There were times in my recovery that the only family I had was my AA family, when I didn't know where my son was and was disconnected from my sister and her family.

We had an ice storm that shut down schools an hour early on MOn, closed all day on Tues, and started an hour late on Wed. Then Friday we had 65 degrees and winds abotu 30 to 35 MPH. Freaky weather this week for both of us!
