Sunday Chip--Respectful/Disrespectful
I am trying very hard to remain on the respectful side of this chip. It's not always easy for me to respectfully disagree with with a person who is being very argumentative.
About the only defense I have in a situation like that is to walk away and say nothing at all. Biting my tongue works almost as well.
Being disrespectful to anyone because of their beliefs is a big no no for me. But using emotional, irrational reasons to explain their reasoning is bunk. I am responsible for what I say and do and try to use logic and facts when a discussions takes a bad turn. Today, I am going to practice walking away, or hanging the phone up when the disrespectful side of this chip pops up again...... H.U.G.S. SunnyGirl

For me, there is no excuse for being rude. The world would be a much better place if everyone respected their own space and acknowledged and respected others. I like to call it my safe space which has boundaries and in many cases by invitation only.
The biggest offender is my son because he is still using, he feels as it is his because I am his mother and what is mine is his too if I allow him to invade and coreside there. Thank God for boundaries and the courage and direction to put them in place and maintain them.

Well said Caressa.....
I believe family members in general, are guilty of infringing on our boundaries, but only if we allow it. H.U.G.S. SG

I agree with both of you. No excuse for being rude and disrespectful. And liek they say..two wrongs dont make a right...so if I am treated with disrespoect and turn it back on them...it certainly does not make it right.
My older brother is very disrespectful. He was raised a Christian but in college, the scientific part took over in his mind and he now claims he is an athiest. His priviledge. Yesterday we had dinner with the family and I asked my nephew to pray..my prother said..i dont need to pray so I will go on and fill my plate and eat. His wife gave him a look and he refraned form filling his plate, but he walked off so he woudl not have to be subjected to the Christian propaganda. Oh well. Nobody said anything to heim..best to jsut let it go and accept that he is rude and will continue to be rude.
