This has proved to be very true for me. Now that I have Type 2 Diabetis, I really have to watch the foods I eat. The things I have to watch out for is potatoes and gravy. Anything white turns to sugar. Everything I like seems to be white!

Less food doesn't mean NOT eating. I was told to eat 5 times day, a muffin or n apple was a meal. You didn't eat carbs with protein, and lots and lots of veggies.
You have to find your own program and what works for you. When mini meals changed and got larger or smaller, has to go back and look at what was eating me. Our emotional sobriety can be a great barometer.
