Saturday Chip--- Living for today/Living in the past, worrying about the future I am definitely living for today. Before I found the 12-step programs, I would get up each day, load my back pack with garbage I'd collected in the past and with all my worries about the next day-week-year.... I'd carried this back pack for so long is was just an extension of my life. Today I get up each morning, feeling happy and very determined to stay that way. Gone are the feelings of gloom and doom, worrying about what might go wrong. I do have days where I'll make a detour, and get a little off track, but most days I expect a good day and that is exactly what I get...... Are you "Living for today------Living in the past, worrying about the future? Please share..... Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

I am very much an in today person. I have found that time just slips away and disappears. Before recovery, the days seemed endless. I was waiting for them to end to pass away. When they say Live and Let Live. The key word for me is Living my own life and letting others do their thing. They can have their choices, their negativity, their bugaboos, and I have learned to let them be and do the best I can to be the best me I can be in today. It isn't about the big I am and want I want, although I do have my druthers today. I turn each day over to my HP and go where I am led.
As you said, there are detours and scenic tours, but I know I come back to where I am suppose to be. I always figured my HP is sitting up there and saying, "Oh No! Do we have to go through this again! Didn't she learn her lesson the last time. Tsk! Tsk!" Then I get the Al-Anon handshake.

I can just picture God shaking his finger saying "learn the lesson".... It took me such a long time to admit that when I respond the same way, I will get the same result. I've also learned that happiness is contagious! It's difficult to be glum in a room full of people smiling and happy. If I can do something to make another feel good about themselves, or gladden their day, I want to be the one to do it. I have to take care of me, because that's my job. And like you I have to live my own life, but if I can make someone happy in the process, it makes my journey all that easier..... H.U.G.S..... SG

The old slogan is:
I had foot in yesterday. One foot in tomorrow. And pissing all over today.
Boy did I understand that one when I first heard it. Lot more fun living in today.
Have a great day.
