I am a new member here. I have been in a treatment facility for my substane abuse and depression. I am bi-polar. I have been sober now for 55 days. I received my certificate from the program I was in. I have broken all ties with the individuals of my past drinking days.
I'm not sure if there is anyone who can help me out but I am trying to find some information on the internet that will apply to me. Here is my situation:
My ex-husband has custody of my 2 minor children (which I did not have taken from me). I have had visitation with them bi-weekly. He voiced his opinion of my alcohol use around the children, aged 13 and 15, to the Friend of the court. While I was in rehab, which he discouraged, he had a hearing without me which took away my visitation rights. I did send notification to the Friend of the court to inform them prior to my rehab stay. I have a received a letter informing me of this when I returned home. I have been told that I will need to file a petition to have my visitation rights reestablished. I have been informed that this could take some time and that I should be very informed in order to state my case and prove my sobriety. I have tried desperately to get some time of info to assist me with my defense but the only info I can find so far on the net are cases AGAINST the recovering alcoholic.
If you have any information or no where I can find some, please let me know.
I desperately need my children back...they are my life and I did this for them as well as myself.
desperate and sad,
