FRIDAY CHIP---ANGER/SELF-CONTROL"If you don't like the feeling of anger choose the feeling of acceptance instead"- - unknown ~ ~ ~I’m getting pretty good at keeping my anger under control. Most of the time…. Part of the time…. Working on it as I type…. Recently, when “Honey” questioned me about why I did or didn’t do something, I erupted like Mt. Etna… Thing of it was, he was right! But I really hated having him point out my mistake. Needless to say, I had to do serious make-up work for my bad behavior….. This could have all been prevented if I had taken a time out or recited the serenity prayer until I cooled off… Today, I will work on this defect and try harder to rule over my emotions instead of them ruling me. ~ ~ ~“If what we are doing with our anger is not achieving the desired result, it would seem logical to try something different”. - Harriet Lerner Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

Not feeling much anger these days. Have been too busy or in too much pain to really feel it if it is there. Although, when I think about it, the pain can make me angry when I can't do what I want to do. Didn't like going to bed early last night and waking up just after 3 a.m. That is annoyance, not anger. What I perceived as anger for so many years, was abandonment, rejection, hurt and a lot of other emotions I didn't know how to express and let go of for so many years. Today I accept the feelings for what they are, process them, know they are alright and then once I acknowledge them, I can let them go.

I used to have a problem with anger, but these days I have gotten past it. Self control is a much nicer way to live.
I used my recovery tools of acceptance, letting go, detachment and the serenity prayer to ge past the anger.
