"First Things First"
This slogan, “First Things First” helps us to set reasonable priorities and to keep a realistic perspective. This slogan helps us to make choices we are comfortable with, and to act with balance rather than react to crises.
Many of our confusions and frustrations are due to our failure to deal with tasks and problems in the order of their importance. It does take discipline to put aside the things we'd rather do, and attend to those of first importance FIRST. But the rewards are great: we get things done, we enjoy a sense of accomplishment, and we learn to face issues with a real sense of value and purpose.
Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

One Day At A Time
The slogan, “One Day At A Time” provides a practical approach to challenges and fears. We focus our energies on dealing productively with today, and we give up worrying about a future we can not predict or control and about a past we cannot change. It helps us break overwhelming tasks into manageable steps.
I will keep always in mind that today is my sole concern, and that I will make it as good a day as I can. This one small span of time is mine, and I will use it to do the things that need doing, and have a little time over for enjoyment and reflection.

Keep An Open Mind
The slogan, “Keep An Open Mind” helps us to be open to ideas from sources that we might not have imagined could be helpful. It helps us to take advantage of all opportunities. As I grow, I continue to learn and to unlearn, replacing old ideas with new ones and reclaiming others that had been cast aside. If I don't get too attached to any one way to approach life, I adjust to change with a lot less stress and strain.

How Important is It?
After living in the chaos, it can be hard to know the difference between a minor inconvenience and a major crisis. "How important is it?" helps many of us to regain some sense of proportion. If I try to keep my attention on this day instead of worrying about possible future consequences, I can take my disappointment or irritation at face value, refusing to dramatize it.

"This Too Shall Pass"
Have you ever felt like things just aren’t going your way? Sometimes just moments. Other times, maybe days…… And you have to somehow deal with these moments before your life can move on. Whatever the crisis is at the moment, eventually it will go away, time heals all things. This saying reminds me of another, “God Never Gives Us More Than We Can Handle.”…..

"You can either let go or be dragged" But what do we get by holding on to things? I can hold on to my anger or I can give it to my Higher Power. I can hold on to my fear or know that HP will direct the course of my life. I can continue to try to control people in my life or recognize that God is directing their course and responsible for the outcome, not me.
Life is going to happen despite my trying to control people, places, and things. I am in charge of my behavior and attitude and have little to no control over the behavior and attitude of others. So will I allow my self to be dragged along life's emotional highways by not letting go?

"Recovery is not an Event, It is a Process"
The disease of addiction affects all three aspects of our physical, mental, and spiritual selves by changing our behavior (to self- destruction), thinking (to self-serving), and allegiance (to no purpose). It was a slow debilitating process.
Recovery is also a slow process back to balance in all three areas. We change our behavior to self-construction, our thoughts to service to others, and our allegiance from "no purpose" to a higher purpose. We do this through the PROCESS of working the 12 steps and we celebrate our progress with clean and sober "birthdays." Having a clean and sober birthday is an event. Earning those birthdays is the process.

This is a 'One Day at a Time' program. If you are clean and sober today, you are tied for first place in AA.

This slogan doesn't just apply to not using drugs and alcohol, it applies to all aspects of my life. Sobriety means soundness of mind. When I use people, places and things, I can get caught up in the past and project into the future, so I need to stay in today, it can all lead to the same soul sickness. For this twenty-four hours, I will not abuse myself or others. I can't take my pain out on others.

Let It Begin With Me - My all time favorite Hesitate and Meditate. When I first introduced this slogan to someone on this site they had never heard of it. I was told it must be a Canadian thing. I hope since then it has circled around the U.S.A. Attachments:
