Mornin Simon...
I agree with you 100% on the need for updates ......
and the funny part is, there was an add on this page for free smiley downloads. Max is the man, on this one and I haven't seen hyde nor hair of him in quite some time. I was asked to be the global moderator, but I am not a computer tech... My administrative functions or tools are limited! I could email Max but hate to do it if its not a crisis situation. Hang in there and I will try to stir the pot a little and see if we can't come up with a better alternative than what we have now.... Cherie

Mornin Simon... I tend to have a rather dry sense of humor, not everyone gets it! I appreciate irony and witty remarks... Sarcasm if not aimed in a hurtful way is ok, but I've seen it used to make people the butt of a joke... Love the pickle and the waving smilie, but the smilie with the sign could get me in big trouble.... ;D Having a sense of humor is a very useful tool in recovery... Have a great day.... Cherie

Obviously in an internet world unless you know how certain people are, and as you stated, if used properly. I've been posting with a certain group of New York Mets fans for going on ten years now. We've met each other at games at Shea Stadium which was kind of cool to put a face to a username. It was like going on a blind date with 20 different people.
And also obviously board protocol is top priority. If you don't have certain rules set and enforced, people's feelings can get hurt. I've seen it happen. Seen some nasty flame wars take place. Especially a board like this where you want a safe enviornment for folks to put their feelings on the table without repercussion or judgement.
