With all this big news of Michael Jackson death really put a huge sign up for a real wake up call to the cries of addiction and how it can harm you.
Seems like family and friends were aware of it and tried to help. Little do I wonder why this so called system of getting prescription drugs so d**n easy by changing doctors as fast as changing underwear.
Something got to be done. I know full well that its a system cant' be beat when its just so easy to obtain but with all these top head politics out there the line has to be drawn.
Family and friends that cries out in trying to help has to be able to get the help that they desperately need to prevent a possible death.
I have been really sadden to see so many stars this last few years die. My own sister died of an OD on horse tranquilizer and heroin. So I know it has touched my heart a little harder with the news of MJ death and of course the others as well.
A fight that needs to be won somehow. Letting go and Let G*d is not enough it seems.

Great topic Dg.....
Fraudulent prescriptions, doctor shopping, over prescribing prescription med's has always been a major problem. It was my understanding that most states had laws on the books to prevent this type of thing, but evidently the law is not enforced.
My brother-in-law was pulled over by a cop, unable to hardly stand up! No alcohol on his breath, so cops drove him home... Not cited, not arrested for DWI, not even a slap on the hands!
Sis rolled her truck, was taken to hospital to be examined and no blood alcohol test. Drunk drivers kill people, but driving while impaired by drugs is as bad or worse and not always punished.
It was my belief that the pharmacies were linked to a computer... If the same name keeps coming up, why wouldn't a flag come up on that name??
All I know is that they need to crack down on this.... It's funny that it takes someone famous dying before anyone notices!

My doctor was my supplier for years. He had me on a drug for five years that if it didn't work in five months, would never work. The first time I took it, I felt like I was walking 10 inches off the floor. I phoned the specialist who prescribed it for me and said, 'Am I suppose to feel this way?' He said, "No take a half of a pill until you get use to it then take it as prescribed. I was on three a day.
Seems like everyone wants to beat the system. They spoil it for everyone else. There are people who need help. One of the saddest things I saw was a girl who was a crack addict with her little girl who would be about four crying because she was hungry in the mission to get food because she had spent her mother's allowance cheque on drugs.

I am sick of hearing about Michael Jackson....
How many addicts die daily from prescription pain meds? Jackson was one of many. The rich and famous you hear about, but for people like Dg's sister, she is mourned only by her family.
It makes the news each time a celebrity enters a rehab hospital. And then there was, Dr. Drew and his hit reality TV show “Celebrity Rehab” , which highlights the struggles of celebrities trying to come clean. I wonder how many of them are working the step's?? They take the anonymous out of AA and go on TV to work their program.
I admire anyone that gets clean and sober in AA.... But it's a lifetime program. You're only clean/sober ODAT!!
Once the sales slow down on Michael Jackson's memoribilia.... And people file his name away with Elvis, Marilyn Monroe or John Belushi and all the others that died because of drug and alcohol addiction...
The world will get back to "NORMAL" and ignore the problems of "doctor and pharmacy" shopping.... And we'll only be reminded when some one famous or someone we love dies because of this problem.... It's been a problem for years, "NOTHING CHANGES- IF NOTHING CHANGES".
Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

I hear you SG. Thats why I made the post is its always about the famous dying of drug OD but in reality its about anyone addicted to drugs. Another person came in mind Nichole Smith she too was talked about endlessly. A system that needs fixing and yet it can't be beaten due to so many ways to obtain RX. Getting it online, going to another state and smuggling it back home. The list is endless. And the slogan: IT begins with me fit this topic pretty well.

Federal drug agents have been asked to join the investigation into Michael Jackson's death ..... abcnews.go.com/Blotter/MichaelJackson/story?id=7982097&page=1I'm not altogether sure that I have confidence in the federal government solving this... But with California issusing IOU's guess they can't afford to investigate. Well at least they recognize there is problem... More will be revealed! Hugs, SunnyGirl

even though pharmacies are linked to insurance companies and to computers, there are ways are it. Iknow, my ex did it! Doctors are negligent and leave their prescription pads around and poeople steal them and forge prescriptions. My ex did it. He got arrested twice for this but never sent to jail or really punished...just probabtion... so i bet he is out there still doing it!! and then the insurance premiums go up!!!! what can i say!!! doris
