B is for Be! It is okay to just 'BE'! It is okay to be me. It is okay to just be and do nothing. I don't always have to be busy. I need to learn to find the quiet and spend time with me.

H is for HOW. How the program works is Honesty, Open Mindedness and Willingness. You have to want it in order to get it, it isn't a quick fix, a one time deal, it is 24 Hour a day program.

I is for: Isolation - Internalize - Importantly
In 12- step recovery, it is most Important that we don’t continue to Internalize our problems without asking for help. And we don’t use the self-imprisonment of Isolation as a remedy either.

J is for Joy. If I am not enjoying sobriety, I need to ask myself, "What am I doing wrong?" I am promised that recovery will make me happy, joyous and free. Why would I not want to reap the benefits when they are so glorious? All I have to do is work the Steps into my life, one day at a time.

L is for LET GO AND LET GOD. That's my favorite slogan. I use it when I want to take control of something that is not mine to control.

M is for More. I need to change that around and think "more' recovery, 'more' meetings, 'more reaching out to others, 'more' helping others, 'more' positive instead of the negative. My drug of choice was always more. More of what I am having, more of what you were having and more of anything else that came my way. I had to change the focus of I and make it a 'we' program.

“What we focus on, we empower and enlarge. Good multiplies when focused upon. Negativity
multiplies when focused upon.
The choice is ours: Which do we want more of?”

O is for Open. Just can't think of another word. I need to open my mind, open my arms and open my heart to allow people, places and things into my life. My God speaks through them and I must be open to receive.

P is for Please. A little manners go a long way. Saying please and thank you never hurt anyone. It is only polite to treat others the way you would be treated.

Q is for: Quit
Don’t Quit when the tide is lowest, For it’s just about to turn; Don’t Quit over doubts and questions, For there’s something you may learn. Don’t Quit when the night is darkest, For it’s just a while ’til dawn; Don’t Quit when you’ve run the farthest, For the race is almost won. Don’t Quit when the hill is steepest, For your goal is almost nigh; Don’t Quit, for you’re not a failure Until you fail to try.

S is for Sobriety. Sobriety means soundness of mind. When my head is busy, and I allow myself to be obsessive and compulsive, I need to turn things to my Higher Power, and remember that this disease is mental, emotional, spiritual and physical.
