Today it seems like more and more people are to busy to cook at home and eating out instead, if your not making good choices, it can really pack on the pounds.
My older son and his wife are making a big effort to change their reliance on fast foods. They both work and they are now packing their lunches making good choices on what they are eating. It's a "diet" but also a change in life style.... They are both exercising, my son has a friend who is a personal trainer and he's helping them both with goals.
Honey's diabetes and high blood pressure and cholesterol has certainly changed the way we are eating. Of course I watch what he's eating much more carefully that what I eat.
I have eliminated most of the beef from our meals, maybe once a week max and less most of the time. We eat allot of fish and chicken... Honey gets to have loads of veggies and eats fruit at least 3 times a day.... All dairy products are low fat, eggs limited, I do make him egg white omelets. All bread and pasta are whole grain.... I even bake him sweets using splenda and wheat flower and I think their delicious if I do say so myself....
A balanced diet and as much exercise as you can tolerate in your life will make you feel like a million bucks..... IMHO ;D
Hugs, Cherie

Have been watching Dr. Oz and trying to follow his direction. I found out that I was a very picky eater. The egg white is the part of the egg I hate. I watched his show the other day and he suggested Stevia and Aguava Necter. I was told that Splenda and some of the other sweeteners have a lot of chemicals in them.
How about sharing some of those dessert recipes. I bought some vanilla ice cream that says "No sugar added" and it is great topped with fresh berries sprinkled with Stevia. I like the Aguava Necter over sweet potatoes, turnip, etc. to things that I use to add brown sugar.

The recipe below is one I have tried and we all enjoy it.... It is a good sized cake for 1 person, but cutting it in half might work. The cake serves 16 people....
Banana Split Cake 6 1/2 graham cracker sheets (two 1 1/2-inch squares per sheet) 1 ounce sugar-free, instant vanilla pudding mix 2 cups fat-free milk 8 ounces light cream cheese 10 ounces canned, crushed pineapple packed in juice, drained 4 medium bananas, sliced 8-ounce container light whipped topping 3 tablesthingys pecans, chopped
Cover the bottom of a 9x13-inch pan with graham cracker sheets.
In a medium bowl, prepare pudding with 2 cups fat-free milk, according to package directions. Add cream cheese to pudding and whip together. Spread pudding mixture over graham crackers. Spread the crushed pineapple over the pudding layer and top with bananas, then spread whipped topping. Sprinkle pecans on top.
(makes 16 servings, 156 calories per slice)
We buy the ice cream with spenda, or no sugar added and he enjoys it plain or with fruit.... I'll also buy the sugar free cake and slice it pretty thin and add strawberries and sugar free-low fat cool whip.

In today I try to make healthy choices. My downfall is chocolate. Make that Chinese food and all those things that a diabetic shouldn't have. My God and I are still working on this.
