A Life of My Own
"We admitted that our lives had become unmanageable."
It's difficult for some of us to grasp that, as Step One tells us, our lives were unmanageable. We thought we were in control. Our lives were cluttered with the problems of other people. We were always busy doing for others instead of ourselves. Taking charge of their problems, running their lives. Managing their world, when our own world was deluged in chaos. Walking around and not knowing which way was up. Unable to function in the real world. We had become just as sick as the alcoholic or addict.
One of the goals we seek throught his program is serenity. We get a peek at serenity when we free our minds from tending someone else's business. The very act of managing, or trying to manage, so many other lives made our lives unmanageable.
"Throughout this day I'll ask myself if what I'm about to do is really my concern. If the answer is no, I'll put my attention on God instead."
Whose life are you managing today ?

A good reminder for the holiday as well as for all year round. Each day, I need to start by reminding myself of the Steps 1, 2, 3 Waltz. I can't, my God can, just for today, I choose to let Him/Her.
